Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Must have a bachelor's degree in Exercise Science, Exercise Physiology, Kinesiology, Human Performance, or a related fitness discipline. Must possess one or more of the following certifications: Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) from the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) or Strength and Conditioning Coach Certified (SCCC) from Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coaches Association (CSCCa) Must be eligible to obtain one of the following certifications within six months of hire: USA Weightlifting Level 1 (USAW-1) or Tactical Strength and Conditioning Facilitator (TSAC-F). Must have a minimum of three years of strength and conditioning coaching experience. Must be able to lead, motivate, and manage a team. Must have or be able to obtain CPR/AED and First Aid certification upon hire. Must have the interpersonal skills to work effectively with Enlisted Professional Military Education (EPME) Course Coordinators, military personnel, and institutional contacts. Must have knowledge of and/or membership in professional fitness associations to stay current with industry practices and enhance program credibility. Must have the ability to plan, develop, evaluate, and refine course materials and training methods. Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills. Must have experience in administering fitness assessments, exercise prescriptions, and progressive strength and conditioning programs. Must possess a valid driver's license and be able to obtain a Government Owned Vehicle (GOV) operator's permit for a 3-ton vehicle. Must be able to obtain and maintain a National Agency Check with Inquiries and State Criminal History Repository Check (Tier 1) with Childcare background checks which are required for positions that involve working with children under the age of 18. Employees hired into this position are required to complete the Blood and Body Fluids (BBF) medical certification within 60 days of their start date. This post-hire certification ensures compliance with Occupational Health guidelines and supports safe operational readiness for duties involving potential exposure risks. Major Duties
NONAPPROPRIATED FUND POSITION DESCRIPTION JOB TITLE: SUPERVISORY FITNESS SPECIALIST BUSINESS TITLE: SUPERVISORY WARR TECHNICIAN FLSA: EXEMPT JOB SERIES: 0601 PAY LEVEL: NF-04 SUMMARY OF DUTIES: The Supervisory Warrior Athlete Readiness and Resilience (WARR) Technician oversees the delivery of human performance programming to authorized patrons including Active Duty, Retirees, Family Members, and Department of Defense (DoD) Civilian employees at Marine Corps installations and commands. This position supports Marine Corps Total Fitness efforts and leads a team of WARR Technicians in executing performance-based programming across multiple sites. Supervises the delivery of WARR human performance programming and coordinates the activities of assigned WARR Technicians. Ensures consistent delivery of services including performance assessments, measurements, evaluations, coaching support, and logistical setup and breakdown of WARR human performance activities. Develops staff schedules, assigns duties, and monitors workload distribution to meet mission requirements. Provides expert instruction and consultation on exercise techniques to individuals and groups. Oversees implementation and maintenance of WARR human performance programming related to aerobic fitness, muscular fitness, body composition, flexibility, and functional movement. Ensures staff are trained to instruct patrons in equipment use, exercise techniques, and health and wellness concepts across all domains. Coordinates command-level WARR human performance programming for Active Duty military personnel, including scheduling, staffing, and reporting. Serves as the primary liaison between WARR Technicians and command representatives to ensure program alignment with operational needs. Supervises delivery of programming to varied populations including healthy individuals and special populations under medical referral. Ensures staff adapt physical training programs appropriately under the guidance of certified professionals such as strength and conditioning coaches, athletic trainers, or other WARR team members. Ensures compliance with Marine Corps policies, industry standards, and safety regulations. Maintains awareness of emerging trends and technologies in the field of human performance and incorporates best practices into staff development and program design. May attend conferences and workshops to support professional growth and program innovation. Supervises employees to include: assigning and distributing work, coaching, counseling, tutoring, and mentoring employees; approving and disapproving leave, recommending and completing personnel actions, completing performance reviews and signing timecards, training employees, keeping abreast of and actively supporting the principles of the EEO program, and prevention of sexual harassment. Must be alert to alcohol abuse, and take appropriate action. Provides World Class Customer Service with an emphasis on courtesy. Assists customers and communicates positively in a friendly manner. Acknowledges customers, smiles and makes eye contact. Asks questions to determine, verify and solve problems. Checks for satisfaction on the quality of goods and services. Takes action to solve problems quickly. Alerts the higher level supervisor, or proper point of contact for help when problems arise. Develops and ensures implementation of an activity safety program in accordance with the Base Safety Program. Conducts safety meetings at least quarterly. Advises employees of available safety regulations, instructions, materials and equipment. Promptly reports workplace accidents to the Human Resources Office. Ensures safety training is provided to employees. Complies with OSHA standards and takes action to correct unsafe or unhealthy working conditions. Ensures employees understand safety infractions that can result in disciplinary actions, and follows through with appropriate action. Ensures minimal loss of duty by complying with ΒΏReturn To WorkΒΏ program initiatives, and following up on employee well being. The incumbent must be able to lift and carry objects up to 45lbs independently and objects over 45lbs with assistance May work a fluctuating work schedule to complete work assignments outside of the typical work week and work hours. May travel to complete work assignments.
