Qualifications

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field appropriate to the work of position AND four years of experience performing windows administration duties for a large or worldwide data network with server farm and site deployed servers supporting services such as retail, food and hospitality, recreation, property management and other incidental services OR an appropriate combination of education and experience that demonstrates possession of knowledge and skill equivalent to that gained in the above, OR appropriate experience that demonstrates the applicant has acquired the knowledge, skills, and abilities equivalent to that gained in the above. Skill to install, maintain, and troubleshoot Windows Server 2019 and 2022 and above. Skills to optimize the functionality of networks and systems through automation using tools like SCCM, SolarWinds and Ansible.

Experience to perform routine administration and repair of Windows servers supporting Active Directory, Azure AD, DHCP, DNS, Intune, M365, Identity Management tools and Remote Desktop Services. Must be able to support cloud services and on-premises virtualization support including VMware and NetApp Storage. As an authorized and privileged user of Department of Defense Information Systems must possess or receive Information Assurance awareness by completing the DoD8570/DoD8140 requirements (i.e.

Security+ Certification) as a condition of access within six months of employment and thereafter must complete annual Information Assurance awareness training.

Major Duties

Performs windows systems administration duties for the Marine Corps Community Services (MCCS) global data network, supporting both enterprise server farms and command site environments. Provides support for the installation, configuration, maintenance, and optimization of hardware and software systems spanning a diverse technology stack. Key platforms include SCCM, SolarWinds, Active Directory, DHCP, DNS, Microsoft 365, Azure, Remote Desktop Services, Okta, VMware, and NetApp Storage, as well as cloud and on-premises services.

Manages application version control and release planning, documents system configurations, and ensures compliance with security and operational standards. Monitors and tunes systems and network performance, diagnosing infrastructure issues, and restoring services to full functionality following outages or failures. Ensures all MCCS applications are protected by appropriate cybersecurity measures and safeguards data integrity through the evaluation, implementation, and management of effective hardware and software solutions.

Offers expert guidance on a broad spectrum of complex IT issues, consistently interpreting and applying relevant policies, standards, and guidelines. Conducts technical analyses and recommending resolutions for infrastructure challenges and identifying opportunities for service delivery improvements. To include testing and validating system functionality, optimizing performance, and defining technical requirements for new implementations and enhancements.

Provides World Class Customer Service with an emphasis on courtesy. Assists customers and communicates positively in a friendly manner. Asks questions to determine, verify and solve problems. Checks for satisfaction on the quality of services.

Takes action to solve problems quickly. Alerts the higher-level supervisor, or proper point of contact for help when problems arise. Plans, organizes work, and manages internal procedures and resources to ensure maximum productivity and economies.

Monitors programs on a regular basis and initiates corrective action to ensure support of operating programs of MCCS. Develops long-range plans in conjunction with internal operating directives. Effectively supports the Marine Corps Equal Employment Opportunity and Sexual Harassment policies, and ensures compliance with fire, safety, and other environmental issues and programs.

Maintains and enforces security of funds, merchandise, supplies and equipment to preclude or minimize the potential for fraud, waste and abuse. Performs other duties as assigned. This is a white-collar position where occasional lifting up to 20 lbs. may be required.
