Qualifications

Major Duties
Position Description #D2798000 POSITION DUTIES: This position is located within an Army National Guard (ARNG), Garrison Training Center (GTC), Range Operations Section. The primary purpose of this position is to serve as a Range Operations Specialist and is responsible for ensuring safe and overall compliance with appropriate regulations and safety requirements. The incumbent plans, coordinates, and assists the Range Operations Officer in directing operations for the Range and Training Area (RTA).
MAJOR DUTIES: 1. Implements range operations functions directly related to the safe and efficient utilization of the Range and Training Area (RTA) complex during live fire and live training operations on multiple ranges, maneuver training area, and live training facilities.
- Inspects and enforces safe weapons firing and handling, ammunition handling and accountability, safe troop movement, tactical training safety, target emplacement, environmental compliance, and installation and maintenance of warning signs/roadblocks and barriers preventing access to permanent and temporary impact areas and designated hazard areas.
- Ensures that weather information is disseminated to all units who are utilizing ranges, live training facilities, and maneuver training areas on normal and emergency advisories (i.e., weather warnings, tornadoes, flooded crossing sites, Installation closures, and road conditions during the winter months).
- Coordinates requests for air and ground medical evacuation for injured personnel in the Range and Training Area (RTA) complex. Investigates incidents that occur in the RTA complex as required.
- Recommends measures to correct deficiencies or eliminate hazards when detected on ranges, maneuver training areas, or live training facilities; before, during, or after live training operations.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

DEFINITION FOR AREAS OF CONSIDERATION Area 1: Current On-board Title 32 Technicians (Tenure: 1-Permanent, 2-Conditional, 3-Indefinite) and Permanent AGRs in the West Virginia National Guard at the advertised location. Area 2: Current On-board Title 32 Technicians (Tenure: 1-Permanent, 2-Conditional, 3-Indefinite) and Permanent AGRs in the West Virginia National Guard. Area 3: WVNG Army M-Day and Air Force DSG (Drill-Status Guardsmen,) Temporary Title 32 Technicians, Temporary AGR (OTOT), and national guardsmen serving on Full-time National Guard Duty - Operational Support Orders (ADOS).
Area 4: Federal re-employable eligible employees, National Guardsmen outside of the WVNG, and U.S Citizens willing to join the West Virginia National Guard as a condition of employment. Permanent Change of Station: PCS funds are not available for this position. Incentives: Relocation and Recruitment Incentives may be authorized for this position.
