THIS IS AN AIR FORCE NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION. This National Guard position is for a TITLE 32 AIRCRAFT ORDNANCE SYSTEMS MECHANIC (MI 127 MXG), Position Description Number NGD1737P01 and is part of the MI 127 Wing, Michigan Air National Guard.

Military Grades: E4-E6 SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Experience or training in planning and layout of repair sequence and ability to complete modification, repair, and installation of ordnance systems. Experience in diagnosing and troubleshooting malfunctions and determining remedies where complex relationships exist. Experience in hand tools and the use of a variety of measuring and test equipment.

Experience in interpreting technical directions, blueprints, sketches, wiring diagrams, and manufacturer's specifications

Major Duties

*THIS IS A TITLE 32 NATIONAL GUARD POISITION THAT REQUIRES MILITARY MEMBERSHIP* This position is located in an Air National Guard Aviation Wing, Aircraft Maintenance Group, Aircraft Maintenance Squadron, Weapons Element. This PD is applicable for the F-15, and F-16, F-22, F-35 and A10 aircraft only. The primary purpose of this position is to perform maintenance on aircraft ordnance by troubleshooting, installing, removing, testing, inspecting, modifying, repairing to the lowest component level, and assist in repairing and maintaining the Aircraft Ordnance Systems of the F-15, and F-16, F-22, F-35 and A10 aircraft.

The position loads and unloads conventional munitions on the aircraft. Accomplishes technical order compliance's and modifications of components and systems and complete systems checks for proper operations. Performs scheduled/unscheduled inspections and maintenance/repairs of assigned weapons systems and handling equipment.

Loads, positions, safeties and downloads air munitions, Aircraft Combat Maneuvering Instrumentation (ACMI) and Acceleration Monitor Assembly (AMA) tracking pods using applicable handling, loading and checkout procedures and equipment. Test suspension, launch, or release systems for proper retention locking position for manual/electrical release. Adjusts, inserts and removes cartridges and squibs, associated wing tanks and pylons, centerline pylons and chaff and flare dispensers.

Adjust and install fuses and explosive mechanisms in conventional air munitions. Assists journey worker in the operation, troubleshooting, inspecting, installing, maintaining, overhauling, repairing or modifying complete operational aircraft ordnance electronic system(s) and subsystems consisting of numerous complex electronic components in fighter aircraft. Provides hands-on training instruction to lower graded personnel concerned with the repair of the aircraft weapons package.

Provides on-the-job training to newly assigned personnel regardless of grade level. May be required to serve as production and quality inspector. Required to perform additional duties such as launch/recovery, fuel/de-fuel of aircraft, end of runway (EOR) inspection, marshaling of aircraft and servicing of aircraft.

Prepares for and participates in various types of readiness evaluations such as operational readiness inspections (ORI), and mobility and command support exercises. Maintains and reviews publication files of applicable technical orders, regulations, manuals and local directives. Recommends methods to improve maintenance procedures and equipment.

Initiates unsatisfactory equipment and technical order deficiency reports. Evaluates Pilot discrepancy reports to determine validity and necessary repair actions. The above duty description doesn't contain all details of the official position description.
