About This Position
Technical Targeting Analysts evaluate data across a variety of specialized technical areas to provide insights that drive decision-making for operations.

All Directorate of Science and Technology candidates are expected to be effective in a mission-focused environment by: Displaying interpersonal and team-oriented skills to work effectively in multidisciplinary teams Demonstrating an ability to think critically towards solving complex problems Applying and improving technical aptitude Demonstrating strong organizational and planning skills, Demonstrating effective written and verbal communication and an ability to convey complex concepts to all audiences Demonstrating integrity, judgment, initiative and creativity In addition, TTA Officers will have skills, experience, and interest in one or more of the following areas: Computer programming (e.g., Python, SQL, C++, C, Java, Matlab) Processing, manipulating, and/or analyzing large datasets, including raw and unstructured data sources Data Analytics Signal Processing and Analysis Telecommunications networks/voice data communications Social Network Analysis Geospatial Modeling Ability to meet the minimum requirements for joining CIA, including U.S. citizenship and background investigation, and relocation to the Washington Metropolitan area Desired Qualifications Experience in one or more of the following areas: Data analytics Econometrics, mathematical modeling, or geospatial modeling Gaming and modeling Internet/web technology Mathematical analysis Network security and engineering Signal processing and analysis Social network analysis Statistical operations research Survey research, design, and analysis Telecommunications networks/voice data communications Self-starter attitude with initiative Creative Strong interpersonal and communications skills Strong analytic and research skills
Major Duties
Technical Targeting Analysts use data science and analysis methods to improve how we gather and study information. They rely on data to spot patterns and key insights in large, varied sets of information. The role requires a strong background in data science, problem solving, and data analysis, plus the ability to learn and adopt new technologies and methods quickly, and strong communication skills to explain the details of their work for different audiences. Technical Targeting Analysts may work alongside officers from other areas of CIA or the Intelligence Community to provide direct targeting analysis.
Education
A bachelor's degree (or equivalent experience) in a relevant STEM discipline GPA of at least a 3.0 on a 4.0 scale (if less than 10 years relevant experience)
