About This Position
THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION. This position is a Temporary Promotion WS-5801-11 SURFACE MAINTENANCE MECHANIC SUPERVISOR (TITLE 32), Position Description Number D1291000 and is part of the MO Combined Support Maintenance Shop. This is a non-bargaining unit position. SEE NOTES UNDER CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT.
Qualifications
MILITARY REQUIREMENTS: Selected candidate must currently be assigned to a military unit in the Missouri Army National Guard. Title 32 employees will not be militarily senior to their full-time supervisor (grade inversion). Maximum Military Grade - CW5 (W-5) Minimum Military Grade - CW2 (W-2) with date of rank before 13 June 2022 GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Must possess experience or training which demonstrates your ability to organize assignments for subordinates, estimate material and manpower needed for specific manuals and work procedures; and prepare production records, work records and reports. WS-11 SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Must possess specialized experience that demonstrates your ability to plan and organize work assignments for a repair function; review work requirements and establish priorities to meet deadlines; provide a knowledge of the various lines of work performed by the repair function and associated support organizations; dealt effectively with other people; experience adapting existing equipment and techniques to new situations; experience supervising through subordinate supervisors, or the potential to perform such duties as evidenced by the ability to communicate; experience applying human relations techniques using a knowledge of general supervisory concepts; and a knowledge of shop processes.
Major Duties
Plans use of subordinate workers, equipment, facilities, and materials on a week-to-week or month-to-month basis.
Establishes deadlines, priorities, and work sequences, and plans work assignments based on general work schedules, methods, and policies set by the supervisor.
Coordinates work with supporting or related work functions controlled by other supervisors.
Determines the number and types of workers needed to accomplish specific projects.
Redirects individual workers and resources to accomplish unanticipated work.
Informs the supervisor of the need to revise work schedules and re-estimate labor and other resources.
Participates in the initial planning of current and future work schedules, staffing needs, estimates, and recommendations as to scheduling projected work.
Assigns tasks to be performed based on readiness and explained work requirements, methods, and procedures.
Investigates work related problems such as excessive costs or low productivity and determines causes.
Implements corrective actions within their authority to resolve work problems.
Recommends solutions to staffing problems, engineering requirements, and work operations directed by other supervisors.
Plans and establishes overall leave schedules.
Set performance standards, and makes formal appraisals of subordinate work performance.
Assures tools, special tools, test measurement and diagnostic equipment, personal protective equipment, repair parts, petroleum, oils and lubricants, and other materiel are available when needed.
Performs the non-supervisory work of the function, as needed, such as performing maintenance and/or inspection tasks on equipment, equipment operations, or other non-supervisory functions.
Ensures employee compliance with standing operating procedures established for the activity.
Performs other duties as assigned.

This job does not have a qualification requirement that allows substitution of education for specialized experience.
