SURFACE MAINTENANCE MECHANIC LEADER-TITLE 32

As a SURFACE MAINTENANCE MECHANIC LEADER-TITLE 32, WL-5801-10, you will assign work orders and tasks to workers on the basis of individuals' knowledge, skills, and abilities and the supervisor's instruction. Check work in progress and when finished for compliance with supervisor's instructions, work orders, and established shop procedures. Answer workers' questions regarding procedures, policies, written instructions, and other directives. Perform maintenance, troubleshooting, and major repair on equipment/vehicles. Troubleshoot equipment/systems and diagnose difficult performance problems and the cause of mechanical failures. Remove and disassemble engines and systems. Independently perform repairs and maintenance functions with little or no supervision in remote locations. Provide technical guidance and specialized team leadership to lower grade employees within the team. Assist lower grade mechanics in performing major repair work on interconnected complex systems.
