About This Position
About the Position: This position is with the Defense Health Agency (DHA), located at Fort Rucker, AL. The primary location within Lyster Army Health Clinic will be the in the Plans, Training, Mobilization, and Security Division supervising the clinic's guard force.
This position is an Obligated - Term Position, Not to Exceed 3 years with the possibility of annual extensions. It is time limited and may be extended up to a maximum of 8 years. This is a Direct Hire Solicitation.
Qualifications
This position is a TERM position. It is time-limited and may be extended in one year increments up to a maximum of 8 years.This position may be converted to permanent career or career-conditional appointment without further competition as long as all requirements are met. To be eligible for conversion, employee must complete at least 2 years of current continuous service under a term appointment in the competitive service AND employee must have a current performance rating under such term appointment of at least fully successful or equivalent.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: Securing and accounting for all weapons and ammunition in full compliance with applicable laws and regulations; and Providing leadership, oversight, and guidance to security personnel in security programs, i.e., guard force, access control, and crime control programs.
And at least one of the following: Performing duties during emergencies, protecting and assuring life, health and safety. Conducting internal and external patrol of a facility to preserve peace and order. Maintaining records and preparing statistical or activity reports.
This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06).
Major Duties
Supervise employees, distribute work, and set priorities.
Direct response to immediate high threat incidents.
Develop performance standards for subordinates.
Advise, counsel or instruct employees on both work and administrative matters.
Identify developmental and training needs of employees.
Review and approve all reports for initial investigations on all incidents and crime.
Coordinate follow-up action with appropriate federal and state law enforcement agencies.
Maintain records and compiles statistical reports and crime trends.
Execute facility lockdown plan in support of Force Protection Operations.
Secure and account for weapons and ammunition.
Education

You will be required to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship. One year trial/probationary period may be required. One-year supervisory probationary period required. A one-year probationary period is required if the selectee has not previously met this requirement.
Direct Deposit of Pay is required. Selection is subject to restrictions resulting from Department of Defense referral system for displaced employees. Recruitment or relocation incentives MAY be authorized for highly qualified candidates.

Term Appointments may be extended beyond six (6) years, up to eight (8) years. With DOD approval, Term appointments may be extended beyond eight (8) years.

An obligated position is one to which an employee has statutory restoration rights based on active military service, compensable injury or disability when fully recovered, return rights based on having served an overseas tour(s), and may also cover employees who have been on extended leave without pay under certain circumstances. During the obligation period, the position may be filled on a temporary or permanent basis.
