About This Position

The Supervisory Resident Assistant (SRA) serves as traditional supervisor over the Resident Assistants (RA). Incumbent works in coordination with other professional staff in the management and supervision of facility residents to ensure a safe, structured, and therapeutic residential treatment environment. The SRA supports the organization and program philosophy of care and helps ensure the safety and well-being of each resident. Position reports to the Milieu Coordinator.

Qualifications

You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: Recognize and respond to deviations from normal behavior, and identify problematic behaviors in patients. Provide non-professional counseling for patients.

Participate in a multidisciplinary team concerning patient care plans and patient management. Assist in chemical dependency instruction and education in accordance with an established resident treatment plans. Develop staff work schedules; manage and oversee the work assignments and performance; distribute the workload; coordinate scheduling and staffing.

Time In Grade Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade Requirements: Merit Promotion (status) candidates must have completed one year of service at the next lower grade level. Time-In-Grade provisions do not apply under the Excepted Service Examining Plan (ESEP).

Major Duties

Ensures that the work assignments of the RAs are carried out by performing the following duties: Develops staff work schedules; manages and oversees the work assignments and performance. Distributes the workload; coordinates scheduling and staffing of RA (e.g. recreational activities, field trips). Oversees staff record keeping and prepares performance plans.

Provides non-professional counseling for patients. Participates in a multidisciplinary team concerning patient care plans and patient management and participates in the program's behavior management system. Provide crisis intervention and management of aggressive or difficult behavior.

Provides guidance and instruction in group activities, personal health and hygiene, courtesy, and etiquette to residents. Supervises and assists residents in getting ready for school, group, and other treatment activities and attends activities as directed to assist in management of resident's behavior. Oversees residential service activities with other department staff.

Work with the multidisciplinary treatment team to maintain a safe environment for residents.

Conditions of Employment

A one-year supervisory/managerial probationary period may be required upon selection/placement. Measles, Mumps and Rubella immunization required for selectees born after 1957 and seasonal influenza immunization is required for all staff working in Indian Health Service health care facilities. Education

GS-9: Two full years of graduate education or a master's degree meets the requirements for GS-9.
