About This Position

You will serve as a Public Affairs Supervisor for US Small Business Administration (SBA), Disaster Policy, Planning, and Partnerships Division in Washington, District of Columbia. This position reports to the Director of Policy, Planning, Partnerships, and Public Affairs Division and is responsible for the planning, initiation, coordination and oversight of all ODR&R communications and public affairs.

In addition, this Specialized Experience must demonstrate the following: Assess and lead a diverse team, with experience in the following: 1) establishing work assignments; 2) managing workload balance; 3) and evaluating staff performance; and Coordinate with internal leadership, agency partners, and community stakeholders to obtain feedback to be used in the development and implementation of effective messaging content, tools, and techniques; and Develop and execute comprehensive communication strategies to inform and engage diverse audiences on agency programs, policies, and initiatives; and Coordinate timely information to appropriate officials, media outlets, and staff throughout the course of a disaster declaration; and Provide technical editing/review of complex products for a national audience; and Translate complex policy and technical information into clear, accessible language for public consumption ensuring alignment with agency mission and federal communication standards. Major Duties

As a Public Affairs Supervisor at the GS-14 level, some of your typical work assignments may include: Plans, directs, and manages the Communications and Public Affairs Branch by developing long range plans, program goals and objectives for the organization. Maintains oversight of significant developments related to assigned program areas, prepares analysis of the implications of these developments, and recommends modifications. Develops national strategies and policies to ensure programmatic goals are met. Serves as advisor to field personnel regarding engagement with and development of media contacts, development of social media posts, and written communications. Coordinates timely information to the appropriate officials, media outlets, and staff throughout the course of a disaster declaration. Performs supervisory duties. Some examples include, manages workload, establishes work assignments, develops performance standards, and develops and maintains systems to monitor the performance of staff activities.
