About This Position

This position is located in the Office of Administrative Law Judges. The incumbent is responsible for supervising a staff of attorneys, paralegals, and administrative personnel who assist and support a cadre of administrative law judges. The incumbent also provides oversight and management of the safety enforcement appeals program and serves as the entrance and control point for all cases.

In order to qualify for the Supervisory Legal Administrative Specialistposition, you must meet the following minimum qualifications below. FOR THE GS-15 LEVEL: Specialized Experience: Applicants must have at least one year (12-months) or more of specialized work experience, equivalent to at least the GS-14 grade level in the Federal service, or equivalent experience in the private sector that includes: Experience reviewing appeals and directing case intake, to include docketing, preparation and assignment. Coordinating with administrative law judges to assess cases and to ensure management control and expeditious handling.

Major Duties

As a Supervisory Legal Administrative Specialist, GS-0901-15, you will perform the following major duties: Plans, develops, executes and evaluates all Office functions and operations regarding the hearing and case disposition process, and provides leadership, guidance, and assistance in the assigned functions. Serves as Case Manager and directs the development and implementation of case intake, docketing, preparation, assignment and management activities and operations to manage and control all incoming cases. Plans, develops, executes, and evaluates cases management policies, processes, and procedures to ensure management control and expeditious handling of cases.

Supervises the ALJ support staff including attorneys, paralegals, and other administrative personnel. Assigns and directs work and reviews staff work product, which includes examination and analysis of legal issues. Responds to Congressional inquiries from Government Affairs regarding actions taken against airmen certificates by the Federal Aviation Administration.
