About This Position

You will serve as a Supervisory IT Cybersecurity Specialist in the Cyber Directorate of NCIS. All Naval Criminal Investigative Service (NCIS) positions are in the excepted service.

This position is in the excepted service and does not confer competitive status.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-13) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector Experience assisting in the supervision of computer forensic examinations in support of criminal or counterintelligence investigations. This includes performing advanced forensic techniques to analyze digital media; using industry-standard tools to collect, process, and preserve digital evidence; identifying key information from deleted files, user activity, and malware; ensuring evidence handling and chain of custody protocols are followed; and documenting findings for use in legal proceedings.

Major Duties

You will be assisting managers and supervisors in establishing, maintaining, and monitoring effective performance management programs.

You will serve as a technical advisor and consultant on digital hardware control techniques and data processing systems.

You will investigating crimes or potential crimes; the advanced forensics analyst must perform many of the tasks of the incident responder in-depth with the added requirement of establishing evidence that will stand up in court.

You will develop authoritative timelines of actions taken by the intruder, finding evidence of deleted files, and identifying key information in browser histories, account usage, and USB usage.

You will Supervises ICS employees who perform incident management/response.

You will be leading technology and industry stand ard forensic tools and procedures, and ensures subordinates are able to provide insight into Β·the cause and effect of suspected computer crimes.
