Supervisory Intelligence Research Specialist
About This Position
This position is in the Excepted Service under U.S.C. 50 Β§ 3024(v) and appointments are made without regard to the requirements of the Competitive Service by laws, Executive order, or OPM regulations.
This position is in the Office of Analysis for the Near East Affairs, Bureau of Intelligence and Research (INR/NEA), which analyzes all-source intelligence on Iran, Iraq, and Arabian Peninsula countries to support U.S. interests and relations in the region.
Qualifications
Applicants must have 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-14 level in the Federal service which provided the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the duties of the position. Qualifying specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience advising senior policymakers and U.S. Government agencies on intelligence related to Iran, Iraq, and the Arabian Peninsula, and editing all-source analytic assessments for their use.
Experience leading and supervising a staff of subject matter experts to achieve organizational goals, emphasizing leadership, mentoring, communication, problem-solving, and addressing staffing gaps effectively. Experience coordinating and delivering briefings and meetings on program and Middle East issues for senior officials, using facilitation methods to achieve objectives. There is no substitute of education for specialized experience for the GS-15 position.
Major Duties
Serves as acting director as necessary, representing the office in Bureau, Department, and Intelligence Community meetings.
Evaluates information, monitors events, and tracks taskers to coordinate research, briefings, and written products for policymakers to analyze and implement policies.
Advises on the analysis necessary to support of the formulation of U.S. foreign policy as well as U.S. relations with foreign governments and international organizations.
Represents the Department in interagency meetings, advises policymakers, briefs stakeholders, and serves as an Intelligence Community expert.
Directs intelligence research on Iran, Iraq, and Arabian Peninsula countries, ensuring compliance with Intelligence Community, Bureau, legal, and regulatory standards while meeting policy client needs.
Supports the Director of National Intelligence, National Intelligence Council, and National Intelligence Managers for the Near East and Iran.

Knowledge of Intelligence Community standards, legal, and regulatory requirements for research and analysis. Skill in briefing policymakers and stakeholders on complex geopolitical issues. Ability to manage competing priorities and deliver timely, high-quality intelligence products.
