About This Position

This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for or certain personnel of the DOD to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. To qualify for the Supervisor Engineering Technician (Wastewater Plant) GS-0802-12 position, you MUST have the one of the following Basic Occupational Requirements shown below: I have specialized experience including technical work in the areas such as: drafting, surveying construction estimating, physical science, mathematics, aerospace, architecture, chemicals, electrical or mechanical systems, mining, petroleum, or nuclear systems.

OR

I have experience in a trade or craft that work required intensive knowledge of engineering principles, techniques, methods, and precedents for example trade positions with substantial developmental, test, or design responsibilities such as: a Planner and estimator who analyzed designs for production purposes or an Instrument maker or model maker who performed design or development work on devices fabricated.

OR

I am certified by the National Institute for Certification in Engineering Technologies, an organization sponsored by the National Society of Professional Engineers. AND SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: I have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service which includes: knowledge of the operation, maintenance and repair of the wastewater treatment plant/sanitary distribution and the installation water distribution system through wastewater treatment plant operators and industrial equipment mechanics assigned to the waterworks branch. Assigns work to subordinates based on priorities, selective consideration of the difficulty and requirements of assignments, and the capabilities of employees.

Experience as liaison to the Contracting Officer's Representative (COR) on maintenance, repair, and various other construction projects.

Major Duties

Plans, directs and reviews the work of a multi-disciplined staff of wage grade trades.

Assigns work to subordinates based on priorities, selective consideration of the difficulty and requirements of assignments, and the capabilities of employees.

Acts as a liaison to the Contracting Officer's Representative (COR) on maintenance, repair, and various other construction projects.

Prepares or supervises preparation of basic information such as construction drawings, sketches, plans, cost estimates, bills of materials, detailed justifications and descriptions of scopes of work to be performed.

Provides inspections and reports of contract performance for adherence to contract compliance, specifications, plans, government regulations, laws, and industry standards.
