About This Position
Serves as a Supervisory Aviation Technical Systems Specialist (TSOG Technical Support Manager) at the Technical Services Operations Group (TSOG), Houston TSC (AJW-C22G).
Qualifications
Specialized Experience: To qualify for this position, candidates must have one year (52 weeks) of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower level (FV-I or FG/GS-13) that is typically in or related to the line of work of the position to be filled and which has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform in this position. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been at least equivalent to the next lower level in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Specialized experience is experience evaluating and optimizing the performance of facilities and services in the National Airspace System (NAS), and analyze alternate courses of action in the management and improvement of NAS systems.

Major Duties
Directs work of subordinate employees at the organizational unit level. Work includes routine project/program tasks based on established policies, procedures, and guidelines. Managerial duties affect employees in one organizational unit, and include setting priorities, assigning tasks, monitoring and evaluating performance, coaching and developing employee capabilities, approving leave, and taking or recommending corrective/disciplinary action as appropriate.
Applies a comprehensive knowledge of the technical aspects of the work directed, a detailed knowledge of budget, human resources, and other administrative policies and procedures, and an in depth knowledge of the objectives of the Technical Operations organization. Reports directly to the Technical Services Operation Manager in a Service Area. Provides first level technical and administrative direction to the assigned workforce which may consisting of specialists and engineers who provide in-depth technical expertise to managers and specialists, evaluate and optimize the performance of facilities and services in the NAS, and analyze alternate courses of action in the management and improvement of NAS systems.
Technical Support areas of expertise include communication, navigation, RADAR, environmental and automation systems, maintenance programs, spectrum management, and facility performance. Applies a comprehensive knowledge of the technical aspects of the work directed, a detailed knowledge of budge, human resources, and other administrative policies and procedures, and an in-depth knowledge of the objectives of the Technical Operations organization. Reports directly to the Technical Services Operation Manager in a Service Area.
