About This Position

The Facilities, Assets & Security Services (FASS) for the U.S. Postal Service Office of Inspector General (OIG) has a great opportunity to join our Personnel Security team as a paid Student Cooperative. Qualifications
Candidates will be evaluated on the skills that they possess that are directly related to the duties of the position and/or the experience, education and training that indicate the applicant's ability to acquire the particular knowledge and skills needed to perform the duties of the position. Position Minimum Requirements You must meet all minimum requirements listed below.
Degree/Major Requirement: Students must be currently enrolled full or half-time in an accredited college or university program, classified or academically ranked by semester hours as a Sophomore, Junior, Senior or Graduate student graduating no sooner than May 2027 (must submit transcripts stating current enrollment status, GPA, and in good standing.) GPA Requirement: Must be in academic good standing as defined by the college or university, earning at least a 2.75 GPA on a 4.0 GPA scale. Work Location Requirement: Students must report in person to the USPS OIG Arlington, VA duty station during core business hours (9:30AM ET to 2:30PM ET). During the academic semester: 10-30 hours per week During school breaks: Up to 40 hours per week (with management approval) EVALUATION FACTORS Failure to demonstrate that you meet all of the evaluation factor requirements as listed below will result in a score of zero (0); an ineligible status, and you will not be referred for further consideration.
Include your major accomplishments relevant to the evaluation factors in your resume. SharePoint site building and maintenance experience, or ability to quickly learn intranet site building and maintenance with SharePoint. Ability to plan and run an event.
Ability to learn and complete a detail-oriented review process with zero mistakes. Ability to research and analyze complex issues. Comfortable communicating both orally and in writing with higher level supervisors and people you have never met.
Major Duties
About the Facilities, Assets, & Security Services Directorate The Facilities, Assets and Security Services team strive to delivery high quality, prompt and efficient customer service to address organizational needs related to building infrastructure, capital assets and physical security. In maintaining the effective stewardship of the organization's facilities, assets and physical security, the team employs innovative leadership while developing timely, quality and cost-effective solutions to meet operational needs. The team continuously focuses on increasing the value, integrity and security of the USPS Office of Inspector General.
About the Student Cooperative Position As a student cooperative, you will gain valuable experience by contributing to personnel security programs and projects. As a successful candidate, you may work with multiple teams in FASS, but primarily the Personnel Security Office.
You will work on a variety of projects ranging from reviewing security documents, fingerprinting, creating credentials, SharePoint site building and maintenance, research, data analysis, general office duties, small event planning and coordination, maintaining strategic calendars, and assisting with other projects as needed. Examples of duties for the Student Cooperative position include: Fingerprinting Creating credentials Applying adjudicative guidelines to vet new hires SharePoint to build and maintain Intranet sites Event planning and coordination Data analysis with Excel and Power BI Research Meeting and coordination with supervisors and staff across the OIG Please note that the duties and responsibilities associated with these positions may vary based upon the area of assignment. Compensation These positions are being advertised at the Administrative Band level, equivalent to a GS-05. The hourly pay range for these positions is $22.41 to $26.99. Authorized locality is included in this range.
