Qualifications
You must meet the qualifications for this position by no later than 30 calendar days after the closing date of this announcement and before placement in the position. Successful completion of an approved Criminal Investigator Training Program as determined by the Inspector General Successful completion of a pre-employment drug testing, exam, and physical prior to entry into position. Successful completion of a background investigation resulting in a "Q" clearance is required, as well as the ability to maintain the "Q" clearance. This position will require the selectee to carry and use firearms. Mandatory firearm proficiency must be maintained as a condition of employment. This position is covered and subject to prohibited securities rules. This position requires the annual completion and filing of the "Confidential Financial Disclosure Report" (OGE-450). U.S. Citizenship is required.

*RELOCATION EXPENSES WILL NOT BE PAID FOR THIS POSITION* Serves as a Special Agent in the Office of the Inspector General (OIG) with responsibility, under the direction of the Special Agent in Charge (SAC), to assist with investigations and event inquiries as required to assure the integrity of operations of the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) and the Defense Nuclear Facilities Safety Board (DNFSB), including matters involving nuclear safety concerns. Under the direction of the SAC, assists in investigations of possible violations of criminal laws or regulations and other irregularities in the administration of Commission programs and activities, particularly those that may impact nuclear safety and regulatory compliance. Identifies, collects, examines, and preserves evidence under the supervision of senior special agents and/or the SAC using controlled and documented analytical and investigative techniques. Establishes preliminary findings for investigations as they relate to the jurisdiction of the NRC, including issues affecting nuclear safety, and documents these investigations in accordance with professional standards. Ensures that investigations are documented in accordance with the professional investigative standards developed and promulgated by the Inspector General community, with due regard to applicable laws and regulations. Selects, gathers, and organizes information from various sources such as other departments and agencies, including the Departments of Justice, Treasury, the FBI, other Inspector General offices, and NRC regional locations, serving as a liaison as required to support investigative activities. Performs liaison activities in NRC regional locations to coordinate investigative efforts, share information, and support inquiries related to NRC programs and nuclear safety oversight. Performs other investigative duties as assigned by the SAC and the Investigations Division's senior special agents. In the performance of duties, may be required to handle, review, access, and/or protect classified, sensitive, or other information that, if not protected, could potentially cause exceptionally grave damage to national security. Performs other duties as assigned.
