About This Position

Qualifications
DHA For Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce. Who May Apply: US Citizens In order to qualify, you must meet the education and experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Basic Requirements for Social Worker: Degree: Master's degree (or higher degree) in Social Work from a school accredited by the Council on Social Work Education. In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below: (Application packages without a transcript will be determined incomplete.) Experience required: To qualify based on your experience, your resume must describe at least one year of experience which prepared you to do the work in this job. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes providing group and individual psychotherapy, gathering psychosocial histories, completing diagnostic evaluations, and clinical documentation. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11) or equivalent. Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted. Licensure: A current, active, valid, unrestricted, Clinical license to practice Social Work independently, offered by a U.S. State, District of Columbia, commonwealth, territory or jurisdiction.(Application packages without a licensure will be determined incomplete.) This position has been designated as a primary/rigorous and is eligible for Law Enforcement (LEO) retirement coverage under the provisions of title 5 USC 8336(c) and 8412(d) by DoD memorandum dated 14 Oct 2015. The maximum entry age for positions covered under this retirement is 37 years old. Retirement from this position is mandatory at age 57 with 20 years of LEO service. The maximum entry age may be waived under certain circumstances. Individuals who are past the maximum entry age limit, but previously served in a primary position, MAY be reinstated. Major Duties
As a Social Worker, you will perform the following duties:
Perform direct, independent clinical interventions to mandated inmate population in a multimodal (group/individual) therapeutic setting.
Provide interventions to assist inmates in changing their behaviors, attitudes, and values that contributed to the commission of their criminal acts.
Maintain clinical documentation in accordance with clinical practice guidelines (CPGs), ensuring socialization of client's progress and needs throughout the therapeutic community.
Conduct orientation for corrections personnel and/or other professional staff on human behavior and the important role of risk assessment and rehabilitation in the field of corrections.
Provide clinical support to non-licensed counseling staff.
Assist in identifying internal and external risks, and provide appropriate intervention to address and mitigate high-risk factors.

This announcement uses the Certain Personnel of the DOD Workforce direct hire authority to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to certain positions in the competitive service. Additional Conditions of Employment: Must comply will all provisions of the 15th MP BDE Regulation 190-3, Rules of Conduct and ACC Policy Letter #9 ACC Conduct Policy. Moderate to heavy lifting up to 15 pounds is required. This position requires the employee to complete the ACC Pre-Service Training upon employment and complete a minimum of 40 hours of training annually thereafter. All facility personnel shall possess a high degree of maturity and emotional stability and have no civilian felony convictions or court-martial convictions for any offense with a maximum authorized sentence to confinement of more then one year.
