Qualifications

Travel for state office visits and training, including independently representing the SAA to State/Local first responder agencies, and other Federal agencies (e.g., USMS, FPS).

SAA Command Center Duty Representative. Required Work Experience 8-10 years of experience in Physical Security and/or Emergency Management. Required Special Skills/ Knowledge As part of our hiring process, we may conduct a skills assessment to better understand an applicant’s proficiency in key areas relevant to the role.

Driver’s License (SORP). Knowledge of physical security principles, systems, and operations, including assessment, implementation, alarm system installation, monitoring, and maintenance. Knowledge of emergency management and preparedness principles.

Able to understand architectural drawings/schematics. PSP and/or PMP certifications desired. Desired Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in a related field, or equivalent experience. Minimum 7 years of experience in electronic security, security management, homeland security, emergency management, or a related field.

Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing, including the ability to make formal presentations to Senators, Senators-elect, and other senior staff. Strong project management skills. Teamwork and collaboration.

Dependability and time management skills. Professionalism and strong work ethic. Attention to detail. Problem solving. Proficient in Microsoft Office and Adobe Acrobat. Working Conditions This position directly supports essential services of the U.S.

Senate. As such, this position requires the employee be available and prepared to work during a lapse, during inclement weather, on holidays, weekends, and during late nights to ensure essential services to the Senate continue without interruption. In the context of government furloughs, this position is considered excepted.

Moderate (carrying of items less than 50 pounds). Security Clearance This position requires that the applicant obtain and maintain a U.S. Government security clearance.

Applicants must be U.S. citizens in order for the SAA to submit your application for a security clearance.

Major Duties

Directs technical physical security implementation projects for portfolio (one-third) of the over 460 Senate state offices, including design, contractor quote evaluation and approval, and construction of security infrastructure and the installation, monitoring, and maintenance of security systems. Oversees emergency and continuity planning and emergency preparedness of each office staff. Acts as the primary program interface with each Senator’s leadership team to ensure the Senate’s security services are applied consistently.

Routinely briefs all levels of the organization regarding vulnerability assessments, threat analysis, security assessment in the legislative branch environment. Works closely with the SORP PMs to provide information on principles and current planning methods for Continuity of business and recovery operations and emergency management. Collects, analyzes and delivers program status reports to ensure adherence to SAA security program methodologies in state offices.

Travels quarterly to provide security and emergency preparedness training to staff and review office security systems and implementation. Other duties as assigned.
