Major Duties

The United States Space Force (USSF) Space Systems Command (SSC) at Los Angeles, California is searching for a Security Specialist (NH-0080-03, GS 12/13 equivalent). Description: Secure the future of space operations. Space Systems Command is seeking a highly motivated Security Specialist to protect our nation's most critical assets, personnel, and information.

In this vital role, you will be on the front lines, leading security efforts in a fast-paced environment and upholding the highest standards of protection. If you are a strategic thinker dedicated to safeguarding national security, we need your expertise on our team. The ideal candidate is a dynamic leader with three to five years of in-depth knowledge of Space Systems Command, possessing the proven ability to effectively lead, motivate, and guide a base-level Information Protection Office within a dynamic organizational structure.

This individual must exhibit a mastery of problem-solving for complex security challenges and demonstrate exceptional communication skills, both orally and in writing. A key requirement for this role is the ability to establish and maintain strong relationships with key partners, including the DAF HQ Security Enterprise, and to confidently advise both senior leaders and base-level IP Offices on critical security matters. Key Skills and Abilities: 1.

Knowledge of a wide range of collateral security disciplines, concepts, principles, practices and requirements applicable to the Information Protection program to include information security, controlled unclassified information, physical security, acquisition security, personnel security, and counter-insider threat program.

  1. Comprehensive knowledge of organization's missions, functions, and structure to ensure effective implementation of oversight of information protection programs security concepts, principles and practices.
  2. Knowledge of analytical methods for determining and evaluating vulnerability threats, intelligence data, and other specialized areas resulting in possible program compromise. Knowledge of state-of-the art security equipment, devices, practices, and procedures with all IP security disciplines for planning and implementing protective methods and security procedures.
  3. Knowledge of required security training concepts, programs, and procedures to develop security education programs, provide training, and assist in operating security.
  4. Skill in planning, developing, implementing, and evaluating security programs to meet mission requirements and improve the security program.
  5. Ability to communicate orally and in writing, clearly, concisely, and accurately.
