Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if the position allows for qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Qualifying Experience: Must have progressively responsible experience which demonstrated practical knowledge and/or experience of recreational activities and equipment, rules and procedures in a recreation program activity which involves recreation work in the area of specialty/grade in which the position is assigned. Ability to lead workers to accomplish duties is desirable. Must possess good communication skills and skill in dealing with the public. Must be able to read, write and communicate clearly and accurately. Must be physically able to lift and carry items up to and including 40 pounds.

Conditions of Employment

The incumbent is responsible for assisting the Arts & Crafts Assistant / Director(s) in the economic and efficient operation of the Arts & Crafts program to include planning and maintaining year round recurring and nonrecurring arts and crafts programs. As a working leader, provides day-to-day advice and guidance to employees for work assignments, relays instructions from the supervisor for work assignments; gets works started and sets work pace; demonstrates work methods and provides work-related guidance; ensures that work site materials and tools are available and ensures that employees follow security and safety guidelines. Assists Director(s) with work force management, recruitment and staff training. Works with Director(s) to implement higher level directives: makes recommendations for improvements; and develops promotional programs to increase participation. Reviews and evaluates sources used for purchase of supplies, equipment and resale merchandise; establishes new or varied sources for improved selection to better meet changing customer needs. Designs and develops publicity and marketing material to promote use of the Skills Development Center. Responsible for scheduling and promoting classes and special events. Receives and resolves customer complaints. Maintains security of all merchandise, equipment and funds assigned. Assists with the development of the annual budget and financial planning. May operate a variety of equipment to include: computerized engravers, copiers, lettering machines, heat presses, kilns, mat cutters, choppers and hand power tools. May work an uncommon tour of duty to include days, nights, weekends and holidays. Performs special projects and other related duties as assigned.
