About This Position
Support the Military's Quality of Life programs! The Morale, Welfare, and Recreation (MWR) department of Commander, Navy Installations Command (CNIC) provides fitness, recreation, lodging and food and beverage programs for service members, their families, retired military and civilian employees. This position is assigned to the Non-Appropriated Fund (NAF) Community Recreation, and Deployed Support Branch; Fleet Readiness; Commander, Navy Installations command (CNIC); Naval Station Everett.
Qualifications
Knowledge of the goals, principles, techniques and procedures used in organizing, planning and conducting leisure time activities. Knowledge of the Navy MWR mission, the scope of Community Recreation activities and their suitability for individuals, groups, ages and interests. Knowledge of MWR policies, rules, and regulations related to the assigned work area. Knowledge of cash handling procedures. Knowledge of basic arithmetic to compute charges, disperse change accurately, and prepare reports. Skill in the use of Microsoft Office Programs (e.g., Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook) and others as they relate to fitness, sports and aquatics programming. Skill in planning and carrying out an enhanced program in the recreation specialty area which meets the needs of the participating community. Skill in providing excellent customer service obtained through prior experience and training. Ability to utilize point of sale system(s). Ability to competently and independently carry out day to day recreation operations. Ability to organize, plan, administer special events and entertainment activities. Ability to maintain records, compile and organize data for reports. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
Major Duties
Provides information to patrons about activities and program offerings. Checks patron eligibility to ensure authorized use of recreation facilities, resources and equipment. Checks recreation equipment and resources in and out and completes inspections upon return. Notifies supervisor or program lead if damage or loss has occurred. Maintains inventory controls for proper accountability of program equipment and resources. Orders and restocks supplies. Prepares and sells snack bar menu items and/or pre-packaged retail items. Uses Point of Sales (POS) to collect fees from customers associated with sales of tickets, retail and rental items, classes, trips, and various other Community Recreation programs. Verifies accuracy and reports of daily sales transactions at the end of shift. Assists in the planning, coordinating, publicizing, marketing and execution of MWR programs, workshops, clinics and special events, including outdoor recreation popular in the local area such as camping, cycling, sailing, backpacking, canoeing, snow skiing, and hiking. Provides support for event set up and break down. Performs various administrative duties, including using computer software programs which track inventories, patron usage/comments, and program metrics. Assists in updating electronic and multi-media support tools, as needed. Seeks ways to promote MWR facilities and events through outreach opportunities. Promotes use of E-reading and other resources available through the MWR Library Program. Adheres to NAVMED P-5010 sanitation requirements. Initiates and follows up on maintenance trouble calls to resolve equipment/facility issues. Performs other duties as assigned as they pertain to the duties of this position.
