Qualifications

BASIC REQUIREMENTS: Must be at least 20 years old AND have graduated from high school or been awarded a certificate equivalent to graduating from high school. (Valid documentation will be required upon hire). Must be able to perform prolonged standing, walking, reaching, moderate lifting and carrying objects up to 45 lbs. independently and objects over 45 lbs. with assistance. Must be able to accommodate a flexible work schedule to include morning, nights, weekends, holidays, and work at any one of the six centers within the program.

Obtain an 18-hour Manager¿s Sanitation certification within 60 days of hiring. Must be able to complete Cash Handling Training Course before handling fund. QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: Working knowledge of the sport of bowling, bowling center operation, and equipment maintenance use to a level which enables the incumbent to perform or direct minor maintenance or adjustments.

Working knowledge in Microsoft Programs such as Word, Excel, etc. Strong verbal and written communications skills to write reports, correspondence and procedure guides; effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of senior personnel, customers and the public. Basic knowledge and understanding of food and beverage operations.

Ability to read and interpret organizational policies and procedural guides as well as military orders and regulations, and ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral diagram or schedule form. Possess excellent customer service, interpersonal skills, tact, and problem-solving abilities, a team player actively looking for a way to help people. This activity is a Drug-free workplace.

Major Duties

NONAPPROPRIATED FUND POSITION DESCRIPTION JOB TITLE: Recreation Assistant BUSINESS TITLE Recreation Assistant (Foster Bowling) JOB SERIES: 0189 PAY LEVEL: NF-02 INTRODUCTION: This position is in the Bowling Program, Retail Operations Section, Business Operations Branch, Camp S. D. Butler, Okinawa, Japan.

The purpose of this position is to function as a Duty Manager during days, nights or weekends. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The incumbent has full responsibility for the smooth operation of a 20-lane bowling center in the absence of management during days, nights or on weekends, to include game room, pin-setting equipment, pro shop, desk operations, fast casual concept, and bar operations. Uses a general knowledge of the game of bowling to assist customers in selecting equipment best suited for their needs.

Oversees up to 15 employees per shift. Assigns patrons to lanes, issue bowling rental shoes, and collects rental fees. Responsible for a change fund and the accountability of monies from sales. Prepares accurate daily activity records, and other associated paperwork.

Assist customers with ¿Dispute and/or Jackpot¿ slot machine payouts, operates cash register for bowling fees and retail sales. Operates the Qubica Automatic Bowling System for lane assignments, selection of bowling type and recording of bowling fees. Answers telephone and makes bowling reservations.

Is responsible for cash funds and daily cash receipts in multiple locations. Performs various cash handling duties such as issuing change funds, ringing cash registers in/out, reading registers at designated times and completes DARs, etc. Complies with non-appropriated fund procedures, maintains required accountability records.

Issues, receives and secures change funds and income from shift supervised. Assures adequate maintenance, sanitation and cleanliness of the Bowling Complex and its equipment. May direct mechanics to conduct minor maintenance repairs.

Receives customer complaints and attempts to resolve them. Refers major complaints or incidents to the Complex Manager or appropriate authority. Closes the Bowling Complex and assures that all entrances and exits are secured and that no unauthorized persons remain in the complex.

Conducts fire checks, secures fund container at the completion of the business day. Provides World Class Customer Service with an emphasis on courtesy. Assists customers and communicates positively in a friendly manner.

Acknowledges customers, smiles and makes eye contact. Asks questions to determine, verify and solve problems. Checks for satisfaction on the quality of goods and services. Takes action to solve problems quickly.

Alerts the higher-level supervisor, or proper point of contact for help when problems arise. Adheres to safety regulations and standards. Uses required safety equipment and observes safe work procedures.

Promptly reports any observed workplace hazards, and any injury, occupational illness, and/or property damage resulting from workplace mishaps to the immediate supervisor. Adheres to established standards of actively supporting the principles of the EEO program and prevention of sexual harassment. Performs other duties as assigned.

This is a mixed position where the incumbent must be able to lift and carry objects up to 45lbs independently and objects over 45lbs with assistance.
