About This Position
This position is located with Bonneville Power Administration (BPA), in Specialty Services (TFHS), Construction & Maintenance Services (TFH), Transmission Field Services (TF), Transmission Services (T). A successful candidate in this position will serve in a developmental capacity and under the guidance of a senior staff member, as a Production Controller responsible for supporting the planning, estimating, coordinating, and scheduling work for multiple fabrication trades.
Qualifications
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS GS-7: A qualified candidate's resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-06) in the Federal service. Specialized experience is defined as: Experience helping to manage tasks or resources to achieve goals, including Organizing materials, information, or people for projects or daily work. Assisting in figuring out what needs to be done each day or what's most important. Using simple tools (like lists, spreadsheets, or online forms) to keep track of progress or see if things are working well. Helping to keep records of available items or information up-to-date to ensure needs are met. You may substitute education for specialized experience at the GS-7 level as follows: Successful completion of at least 1 full year of progressively higher level graduate education that provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the duties of the position successfully; OR Superior Academic Achievement with class standing, grade point average and/or honor society membership; OR A combination of qualifying graduate level education and specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level, GS-05. GS-9: A qualified candidate's resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-07) in the Federal service. Specialized experience is defined as experience actively contributing to the management of projects, processes, or operations, including Organizing and allocating resources (such as materials, time, or personnel) to support project or operational goals. Determining daily workloads and priorities, and making adjustments to ensure tasks are completed efficiently. Utilizing systems or tools to track activities, monitor progress, analyze performance, and identify areas for improvement. Managing inventory, supplies, or information systems to ensure availability and meet ongoing operational needs. You may substitute education for specialized experience at the GS-9 level as follows: Master's or equivalent graduate degree; or 2 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree; or a LL.B. or J.D. if related; your education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work. -OR- Combination of education and experience as described above. Less than one year of specialized experience may be combined with graduate education in excess of the amount required for the next lower grade level (i.e., credit hours beyond the first year of full-time study may be credited). One academic year of graduate education is considered to be the number of credits hours the graduate school has determined to represent one academic year of full-time study. If the graduate school's definition of one year of graduate study is not available, 18 semester hours (or 27 quarter hours) is used. When crediting education that requires specific course work the number of hours of related courses required, as a proportion of the total education, is prorated. "Experience" refers to paid and unpaid experience. Examples of qualifying unpaid experience may include: volunteer work done through National Service programs (such as Peace Corps and AmeriCorps); as well as work for other community-based philanthropic and social organizations. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills; and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Time-in-Grade: Current Federal employees must meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement to receive consideration. Major Duties
As a Production Controller (General Shops), you will: Perform regular and recurring Production Planning and Scheduling involving advance planning, estimating and expediting the use of resources in the accomplishment of the production and fabrication of Transmission system parts. Review all shop orders with requestors to verify priority, need dates, costs and any internal limiting factors such as equipment and material availability. Consult with internal Transmission Design ORGs to formulate solutions to design issues and application on individual production runs in support of specific Transmission projects. Monitor daily production workload in each work center, and analyzes the feasibility of altering the normal workflow process to obtain and maintain required balance and optimize output. Make daily analysis of production requests and future work scheduled to identify existing or potential bottleneck areas. Use the E2 Shop System and Asset Suite System (AS9) to monitor incoming requests and assign to the work centers to perform the work. Provide direct assistance to supply chain inventory management to review and update cataloged commodities from minimum to maximum levels in concert with the needs of Supply Chain.
