THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION. This National Guard position is for a POWERED SUPPORT SYSTEMS MECHANIC, Position Description Number D1682000 and is part of the KS 184 Intelligence Wing, Kansas Air National Guard.
Qualifications
Military Grades: E4 through E6 Compatible Military Assignments: 3EXXX *Must be willing and able to cross train into the compatible AFSC GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Experience or training which demonstrates the knowledge of mechanical maintenance work; ability to read and use technical manuals, illustrations, diagrams and schematics, and skill in the use of equipment and hand tools used in troubleshooting, testing, and repairing equipment. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Experience or training must demonstrate a basic understanding of electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic theory and the makeup and operation of the various individual systems and their interrelationships. Experience using a small variety of test and measurement devices. Experience removing, adjusting, replacing, cleaning, and installing a variety of parts, components and accessories. Experience reading and interpreting technical manuals, blueprints, diagrams, and schematics. PHYSICAL EFFECTS: Requires moderate to strenuous physical exertion when standing, stooping, and bending. Routinely required to lift heavy objects weighting up to 50 pounds and occasionally, lifts items between 50 and 100 pounds with assistance. WORKING CONDITIONS: Works indoors and outdoors. May work in inclement weather on icy, wet, hot, and slippery ramps, work stands, ladders, and in temperature and humidity extremes. Subject to the dangers of toxic fumes, shock, high noise level, possible cuts, abrasions and burns, extremely low temperature cryogenic liquids and extremely high air pressures while repairing adjusting, positioning or moving equipment.
Major Duties
As a Powered Support Systems Mechanic, WG-5378-10, you will install, inspect, troubleshoot, repair, modify and test various types of powered and non-powered ground support equipment, air compressing, ventilation, refrigeration, and air conditioning equipment. Performs duties necessary to accomplish power production and heating and air conditioning functions and provide for customer services in support of equipment essential in the control of live aircraft for ACS daily operations, training, and readiness missions. Performs other duties as assigned.
