About This Position

This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the Competitive Service to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. About the Position: Perform law enforcement work to maintain law and order, preserve the peace, protect life and civil rights, detect and investigate crimes, arrest or apprehend violators, and perform patrols within the jurisdiction of the military installation.

Qualifications

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized ExperienceGS-06 grade level: One year of specialized experience which includes maintaining order and protecting life and property; responding to emergency calls, complaints, or other calls during shift; and completing police/security reports or forms. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05). Specialized Experience GS-07 grade level: One year of specialized experience which includes performing law enforcement work which involves basic laws, regulations, law enforcement operations, practices, and/or techniques and involved responsibility for maintaining order and protecting life and/or property. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06).

Major Duties

This is a developmental position; duties listed below will be performed in a developmental capacity at the GS-06 grade level. At the full performance, GS-07, the incumbent will:
Respond to and investigate emergency calls, complaints and other calls for service.
Conduct and/or participate in civilian training regarding various law enforcement topics conducted on an Army installation.
Upon notification, respond to Intrusion Detection Systems (IDS) and Sensitive Compartmented Information Facility (SCIF) alarms and determine probable cause (actual or false alarm).
Perform access control duties by applying local instructions, Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), Pre-Planned Responses (PPR), Random Anti-terrorism Measure (RAM), and Force Protection (FP) Conditions to control vehicle and pedestrian traffic.
Protect personnel, material, tactical military assets, and high value assets by executing daily RAM and supplemental anti-terrorism measures during increased force protection conditions.
Employ National Incident Management System (NIMS) and Incident Command System (ICS) protocols to establish command and control, develop a course of action to contain, mitigate, and recover from the incident.
Exercise search and arrest authority, detain witnesses, apprehend suspects, interview witnesses and other persons involved.

Education

Incumbent may be eligible for non-competitive promotion to target position upon meeting time-in-grade restrictions and the following requirements: Incumbent demonstrates ability to perform at target grade level; Supervisor recommends promotion; Incumbent completes all required training, and conditions of employment; and Incumbent completes all regulatory requirements for career ladder promotions.
