Qualifications

To qualify for a Policer Officer (Instructor), your resume and supporting documentation must support: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience that equipped you with the particular competencies to successfully perform the duties of the position and is directly in or related to this position. To qualify at the GS-07 level, applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-06 level or equivalent under other pay systems in the Federal service, military or private sector. Applicants must meet eligibility requirements including minimum qualifications, and any other regulatory requirements by the cut-off/closing date of the announcement. Creditable specialized experience includes: Practical knowledge of instructional techniques and principles and concepts to make classroom presentation following established course materials for simple subjects or to review comments or surveys to recommend changes in curricula or various aspects of the assigned training programs. Experience that provided knowledge of a body of basic laws and regulations, law enforcement operations, practices, and techniques and involved responsibility for maintaining order and protecting life and property. Ability to develop training classes and maintain training records using a variety of computer programs (i.e. Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Access, etc.) Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Physical Demands The work requires considerable physical exertion involving walking, bending, running or prolonged standing and occasional climbing and working in stressful situations. Must be able to complete with a passing score an annual physical fitness test. Work Environment Work is performed inside of facilities and vehicles as well as outdoors in inclement weather, well-lighted and dark areas, and with friendly and hostile people. Possible exposure to high risk and danger when confronting employee/suspects involving assault, breach of peace and more serious crimes. Employees may be required to use protective clothing or gear, such as masks, coats, safety shoes, goggles, hearing protection and/or gloves.

Major Duties

As a Police Officer (Instructor) you will be responsible for the following duties:
Manages the activities of various officers performing the Field Training Officer (FTO) functions in DLA Installation Management.
Manages the Field Training Officers (FTOs) as they provide routine, repetitive required course material to augment formal required training, and provide standard orientation for new police officers.
Assess training needs for FTOs and develops in-house training programs to augment formal training received.
Distributes and balances the workload among employees in accordance with established work flow and assures timely accomplishment of the assigned workload.
Patrols DLA installation and property to prevent crime, protect life and property, and enforce local regulations and laws.
Orders, issues, and maintains accountability of police equipment to assigned personnel.

Substitution of education may not be used in lieu of specialized experience for this grade level.
