Physician (Clinical)

This unique role focuses on providing advanced clinical care to patients with ocular surface diseases, particularly graft-versus-host disease in bone marrow transplant recipients. As part of our team of ophthalmologists, you will support the complex care of patients with a range of ocular surface disorders. Ideal candidates will have expertise in the use of local and systemic immunosuppressant therapies, along with experience applying these approaches in the management of intraocular inflammatory conditions.

An understanding of comprehensive ophthalmologic practice-including the management of glaucoma and posterior segment diseases-is also preferred. Surgical practice is not expected for this role. Candidates are preferred to be board certified in ophthalmology.

Experience in an academic setting, including involvement in clinical research projects and engagement with relevant professional associations, is also desirable. DUTIES INCLUDE: The independent management of complex inflammatory eye diseases, especially of the ocular surface. Involvement in clinical research projects.

Preferred Qualifications: Board certified in ophthalmology Preferred Education and Experiences: Subspecialty fellowship training in cornea +/- uveitis Advanced clinical experience in the management of inflammatory eye diseases Track-record of independent clinical practice in a secondary / tertiary referral setting Experience conducting clinical research Academic pedigree, evidenced by independent peer-reviewed publications Recognition of academic and clinical excellence (e.g., awards and prizes) Experience in medical and research communication and education Prospective candidates with experience or qualifications aligned with the following positions are highly sought after, but not required: Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor-level academic appointment. Candidates with memberships of ophthalmology, ocular inflammation, and immunology associations, including the American Academy of Ophthalmology are also highly sought after, but not required.

This applies to employees paid under the General Schedule (GS) and Federal Wage System (FWS) pay systems and is at the discretion of the hiring manager.
