About This Position

This position is in the Network Engineering and Operations Directorate within House Information Resources (HIR), Office of the Chief Administrative Officer, U.S. House of Representatives. The directorate supports reliable connectivity to the House Data Network for the House Campus, over 820 District Offices, and various sites and facilities. This role serves as the Network Communication Specialist.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications: The ideal candidate should have at least three years of demonstrated experience managing Cisco networks. A Bachelorโ€™s Degree or equivalent work experience. The candidate must be knowledgeable in technologies such as VPN, configuring IPSEC tunnels, and DHCP scopes.

Remedy CTS experience is required Minimum of 3 years in specific experience with wide area network transport technologies Preferred Qualifications: Additional experience should include configuring, installing, and troubleshooting Cisco routers and switches during remote sessions. Proficiency in network management, monitoring tools, and network routing protocols (EIGRP, OSPF, BGP, TCP/IP, IEEE 802.x Ethernet) is essential. Cisco certifications (e.g., CCNA) are highly desired.

Work Environment: The successful candidate must be available for 24x7 on-call emergency support. Other official duties may be assigned as needed. Security Requirements: This position requires unescorted access to secure offsite locations which require an identification badge.

In order to be approved for the applicable badge, you must be a U.S. citizen. Continued employment is contingent upon satisfactorily completing a criminal history records check (or other applicable security clearance) and a pre-employment drug-test (pre-identified position only).

Major Duties

Job Summary: The Office of the Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) provides operations support services and business solutions to the community of 10,000 House Members, Officers and staff. The CAO organization comprises more than 800 technical and administrative staff working in a variety of areas, including information technology, finance, budget management, human resources, payroll, child care, food and vending, procurement, logistics and administrative counsel.

This position is located in the Network Engineering and Operations (Networking) Directorate, House Information Resources (HIR), Office of the Chief Administrative Officer (CAO), U.S. House of Representatives (House). The Networking Directorate provides operational support services to the House that ensure reliable and dependable connectivity to the House Data Network both on the House Campus and to over 820 District Offices as well as sites, facilities, and mobile capabilities.

This position serves as the Network Communication Specialist. The Wide Area Network (WAN) team is responsible for maintaining, implementing, relocating or removing private data and wireless networks for the Members of Congress District Offices. During election years, the team experiences an increase in office moves due to the transition of departing members and the onboarding of the new class of freshmen members.

The position does not have day-to-day supervisory/managerial responsibilities Primary Duties/Responsibilities: Responsibilities include: Daily router and switch configuration, troubleshooting, and support, along with various tasks necessary to sustain and maintain the House WAN. The candidate will coordinate WAN installations across the continental United States and U.S. territories, which involves collaboration with partners (both private and ISPs) and other House organizations. The candidate will be responsible for providing clear and consistent communication with district office staff and must possess exceptional customer service skills.

Duties also include configuring Cisco-based network equipment, as well as assembling, shipping, and receiving equipment. Performs other official duties as assigned.
