About This Position

THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION. This National Guard position is for a MAINTENANCE MECHANIC SUPERVISOR, Position Description Number E9558WID and is part of the ID Installation Support Unit, National Guard. THIS IS A TEMPORARY BACKFILL FOR AN ABSENT MEMBER. CURRENT TECHNICIANS WILL RETURN TO PREVIOUS APPOINTMENT AND TENURE UPON THE MEMBER'S RETURN.

YOUR RESUME MUST BE LIMITED TO TWO PAGES, MAXIMUM. GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Experience or training that has provided the knowledge of trade practices, tools, and related equipment used in the maintenance and repair of grounds, exterior structures, buildings, and related fixtures and utilities. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Experience or training in complex trade practices in the maintenance and repair of facilities and grounds.

Experience which required selecting type and amount of materials needed to maintain and repair facilities. Experience using measuring equipment and various portable power tools in work which required close tolerances. Experience or training in performing visual examinations and operational tests to determine the need for, and the performance of, repair work WS (All Grade Levels) -

In addition to the journeyman level knowledge, experience which demonstrates the ability to plan, direct, and organize work assignments for lower grade personnel. Experience which required the review of work requirements and establish priorities to meet deadlines. Experience that provided knowledge of various lines of work performed by this function.

Experience which demonstrates the ability to supervise or the potential to perform such duties as evidenced by the ability to communicate knowledge of general supervisory concepts, and knowledge of shop processes. Experience in adapting existing equipment and techniques to new situations

Major Duties

  1. Plans weekly, or monthly work schedules and sequence of operations. Establishes deadlines and priorities on the basis of general schedules, methods and policies. Determines how many assignments can be done concurrently, which ones must be delayed. Determines the materials, equipment and skills required to do the work.
  2. Selects workers and assigns tasks to be performed. Explains work requirements, method, and procedure. Instructs subordinates in new procedure or methods and provides assistance on difficult or new problem areas. Reviews work in progress and upon completion. Adjusts plans, assignments, and methods as necessary to accomplish the work as effectively and economically as feasible. Determines equipment, supplies and maintenance required. Assures that material is ordered and delivered to work sites so as not to delay work. Coordinates work of the MPRC with other units that may be involved.
  3. Establishes performance standards, and evaluates employees on performance. Selects individuals for promotions, reassignments or to fill vacancies. Counsels employees on problems, adjust informal complaints and grievances and refers major issues to programs. Schedules, approves and/or disapproves leave, takes necessary disciplinary action or refers to higher level of supervision as necessary.
  4. Clarifies unusual repair or maintenance problems stemming from the use of layouts, drawings, wire diagrams and schematics. Assures compliance with standards of safety and quality that provide exact electrical power tolerances necessary for maintenance of complex electronic systems.
  5. Performs other duties as assigned.
