About This Position

This position is with the Fort Belknap Service Unit located in Harlem, MT. Incumbent performs work involved in the maintenance and repair of grounds, requiring the use of a variety of trade practices; Plumbing, Carpentry, Painting, as well as Heating/Cooling, Electrical and Medical Equipment Repair. Major Duties

Performs checks, PM's, walk-thrus on quarters equipment that include furnaces, (quarters) boilers, and hot water heaters, lift station, air conditioners, hot water heaters etc. Paint interior and exterior surfaces on existing living quarters using standard coating methods such as brushing, rolling and spraying. Independently alters and repairs framework, interior and exterior trim, doors, windows, and refinished paneling.

Operates the snow removal equipment (including the case tractor, Bolens Tractor, and Case Backhoe). Independently installs and modifies existing or new plumbing facilities in IHS housing including: utility supply and disposal systems, toilets, tubs, showers, sinks, hot water heaters (gas and electric), etc. Adjusts all hardware on quarters doors, including door closures, weather stripping, lock sets, astragals.

Repairs and checks housing furnaces, hot water heaters, changes filters, belts, controllers, sensors, transformers and igniters. Makes minor repairs to electrical systems.

Federal Employees earn annual leave at a rate (4, 6 or 8 hours per pay period) which is based on the number of years they have served as a Federal employee. IHS may offer newly-appointed Federal employees credit for their directly related previous non-federal experience or active duty uniformed military service. This credited service can be used in determining the rate at which they earn annual leave.

This position is covered by a Bargaining Unit.
