About This Position
THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 5 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION. This National Guard position is for a IT SPECIALIST (NETWORK SERVICES/SYSTEMS ADMINISTRATION), Position Description Number T6324000 and is part of the 224 ADG, National Guard. This vacancy does not meet the criteria for appointment of annuitants. Veterans' preference does not apply to this vacancy due to internal merit promotion.
Qualifications
GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Experience, education, and/or training that has provided a basic knowledge of data processing functions and general management principles that enabled the applicant to understand the stages required to automate a work process. Experience may have been gained in work such as computer operator or assistant, computer sales representative, program analyst, or other positions that required the use or adaptation of computer programs and systems. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Must have one year specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade.
Must have experience with a broad range of IT principles, methods, advancements, policies, systems concepts and analysis, design, development, testing and applications to include hardware and software. Must have experience and skill in supporting the parent organization's and subordinate organizations' network architecture, topology and protocols; ability to study existing architecture of installation systems and test possible enhancements. Must have experience installing and maintaining software and hardware, control current versions and future releases of application software, and document the physical configuration of the organization's information systems and command and control (C2) systems.
Must have experience applying methods for evaluating, implementing, and disseminating IT security tools and procedures; IT security certification and accreditation requirements; and network operations/protocols. Major Duties
As an IT Specialist (Network Services/Systems Administration), GS-2210-12, you will serve as the senior system administrator providing planning, directing, and coordinating of Command and Control (C2) missions systems' installation, maintenance and support. Serves as lead system administrator, trainer and supervisor, and provides Information Assurance (lA) support.
