About This Position

THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION. This National Guard position is for a IT SPECIALIST (INFOSEC) - TITLE 32, Position Description Number PDD2178P01 and is part of the KY 123 AW, National Guard.

Qualifications

MINIMUM REQUIREMENT: Experience that has provided a basic knowledge of data processing functions and general management principles that enabled the applicant to understand the stages required to automate a work process. Experience may have been gained in work such as computer operator or assistant, computer sales representative, program analyst, or other positions that required the use or adaptation of computer programs and systems. Must possess Security+ Certification.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Must have at least 36 months experience that approaches techniques and requirements appropriate to an assigned computer applications area or computer specialty area in an organization. Experience planning the sequence of actions necessary to accomplish the assignment where this entailed coordination with others outside the organizational unit and development of project controls. Experience that required adaptations of guidelines or precedents to meet the needs of the assignment.

Experience preparing documentation on cost/benefit studies where is involved summarizing the material and organizing it in a logical fashion. EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: Resume must have complete dates, work schedule, and/or hours worked per week for both civilian and military employment. Major Duties

As a IT SPECIALIST (INFOSEC) - TITLE 32, GS-2210-11, you will perform studies of the installation's information technology and communications programs, processes, and methods. Evaluate systems/capabilities and enhance mission performance. Evaluate the impact emerging technology will have on organization capabilities, customer needs, and mission readiness, while considering the organization's resources.

Develop plans to meet IT needs of the organization. Brief management on software/hardware requirements and outline procedures to obtain and organize enhancements. Interpret technical requirements and determine organizational compliance with applicable instructions, procedures and practices.

Audit IT programs, processes and projects. Evaluate systems and process performance to identify planning and management issues. Provide management with information needed for direction of programs to include reports identifying limiting factors, opportunities, and availability of assets.

Evaluate mission effectiveness. Manage scheduling and accomplishment of managerial, personnel, technical and special evaluations. Monitor unit standardization/evaluation programs ensuring adherence to applicable directives.

Advise supervisors and managers on the evaluation of programs, policies, regulatory requirements, and procedures. Develop process, management, administrative and technical evaluation plans. Recommend internal reporting and status tracking procedures.

Manage the evaluation program to ensure required actions are tracked and completed. Prepare and maintain files and publications IAW current directives. Coordinate with HHQ elements, Program Management Offices, Specific System/Hardware Support Elements, OEM Vendors and Vendor Contracted support facilities for issue resolution.

Develop, implement and maintain work center training programs. Plan and schedule tasks and training activities. Develop lesson plans. Adhere to management control plan requirements by conducting self-inspection and staff assistance visits.

Conditions of Employment

Military Grades: E2/AMN - E6/TSgt RANK REQUIREMENT: Member must provide in writing with their application package that they are willing to accept a reduction in rank in order to be qualified for this position, if applicable. Failure to do so will result in disqualification. CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT: You must maintain membership in the Kentucky National Guard.

You must be assigned to a compatible military position. Wear of the military uniform. Position may require a pre-employment physical. May be subject to furlough actions. May be required to successfully complete a probationary period. Participation in direct deposit is mandatory. Must obtain a favorable adjudication of a T3 or equivalent investigation. Acceptance of a Federal position may terminate a military bonus. Acceptance of a Federal position will terminate Tricare Reserve Select (TRS) eligibility.

This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968. An individual convicted of a qualifying crime of domestic violence may not perform the duties of this position.

This position conducts information assurance functions. The incumbent shall comply with the requirements of the certification program and will be required to obtain and maintain certification. Certification requirements are outlined in DOD instruction 8570.01-M. Must maintain Security+ Certification.

equivalent -OR- 3 years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree All undergraduate or graduate education must be in computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management OR degree that provided a minimum of 24 semester hours in one or more of the fields identified above and required the development or adaptation of applications, systems or networks. To receive credit for education, you must provide OFFICIAL transcripts.
