About This Position
This position is located in the Department of Health & Human Services (HHS), Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), Office of Information Technology(OIT). As an IT Specialist (ENTARCH) referred to here as a IT Specialist (Cloud Platform Engineer), GS-2210-14, you will function as a technical authority providing cloud platform engineering expertise, financial operations oversight, technical consultation, and analytical reports reflecting long-term goals and objectives.

(4) Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations. AND In order to qualify for the GS-14, you must meet the following: You must demonstrate in your resume at least one year (52 weeks) of qualifying specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 grade level in the Federal government, obtained in either the private or public sector, to include: 1) Developing cloud systems across multiple platforms (Azure, AWS, GCP, Oracle) and upgrade outdated IT infrastructure to modern, secure cloud solutions; 2) Implementing automated security processes, deployment pipelines, and ensure all systems meet federal cybersecurity requirements; AND 3) Participating in agency-wide cloud improvement projects and find ways to optimize spending and save money on cloud services. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills, and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. Major Duties
Designing and managing hybrid and multi-cloud environments across Azure, AWS, GCP, and Oracle using Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) tools like Terraform and CloudFormation.
Managing CMSโs cloud infrastructure and networking, including provisioning, monitoring, and troubleshooting systems for identity and access management, security, and disaster recovery.
Designing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines that integrate testing, security, and compliance controls.
Leads security and compliance efforts, ensuring adherence to FedRAMP and FISMA standards, managing disaster recovery plans, and coordinating incident response.
Drives innovation and cost optimization through FinOps practices, mentors junior engineers, and guides the adoption of new technologies.
