About This Position
This position is located in the Department of Health & Human Services (HHS), Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), Office of Information Technology, Information Security and Privacy Group. As a IT CYBERSECURITY (SECURITY), GS-2210-14, you will serve as a senior technical expert for the design, architecture, engineering, implementation, and operations of the CMS Cybersecurity Integration Center (CCIC). This role is part of the CMS Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) staff.

AND In order to qualify for the GS-14, you must meet the following: You must demonstrate in your resume at least one year (52 weeks) of qualifying specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 grade level in the Federal government, obtained in either the private or public sector, to include: 1.
Leading cybersecurity risk incident response and monitoring capabilities for cloud hosting platforms (e.g., Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Google Cloud Provider (GCP) or Microsoft Azure (MAG)), applications, web services, SaaS services and network traffic, in order to support business goals; 2. Evaluating emerging cybersecurity threats to determine or mitigate risks using Windows/Linux, SIEM, SOAR, NIDS/NIPS, HIDS/HIPS, EDR and Threat Intelligence Platforms; AND 3. Coordinating a pilot (test) project or implementing a new project or program from inception to completion.

Major Duties
Acts as the senior technical lead overseeing the daily operations of the CMS Security Operations Center (SOC) and Incident Management Team (IMT).
Leads and collaborates as an active contributor on advancing traditional and emerging technology solutions to enable security, business integration, modernization of existing systems, and fulfillment of the agencyβs mission.
Develops and maintains advanced capabilities for security automation, process optimization, and operational transparency, including integration of cloud services and emerging technologies.
Oversees and streamlines the efficient operation of CMS Security Operations, including incident monitoring, handling, and reporting.
Improves program effectiveness through KPIs and performance metrics.
