About This Position

About the Position: This position is in the Defense Civilian Intelligence Personnel System (DCIPS). Employees occupying DCIPS positions are in the Excepted Service and must adhere to U.S. Code, Title 10, as well as Department of Defense Instruction 1400.25.

This position is located at the HQ USSOUTHCOM, Security and Intelligence Directorate, Doral Miami, Florida.

Specialized experience is defined as: 1) Supporting offensive counter intelligence operations; AND 2) Conducting counter intelligence investigations. Progressively responsible experience is that which has included intelligence-related research, analysis, collections and /or operations. This experience should have included intelligence analysis and/or production, intelligence collection and/or operations, counterintelligence, or threat support directly related to the position to be filled.

This experience should demonstrate: Knowledge of intelligence processes, cycle and organizations; Knowledge of and/or ability to use research tools such as library holdings, photographs, statistics, graphics and maps; Knowledge of the systems, procedures and methods of analyzing, compiling, reporting and disseminating intelligence data; and/or Knowledge of organization(s) for and methods of collecting and analyzing intelligence data.

Major Duties

Serves as a Counterintelligence Special Agent in the USSOUTHCOM Counterintelligence Operations Branch.

Applies counterintelligence (CI) concepts and principles to evaluate operational capabilities and effectiveness.

Advises and assists supported organizations and Intelligence Community members concerning the development, validation, and processing of CI requirements.

Maintains liaison with personnel in assigned and related fields to discuss mutual counterintelligence problems and production efforts.

Identifies counterintelligence gaps, specifies counterintelligence collection requirements to fill gaps, develops tools and methodologies, and analyzes databases to draw specific conclusions relating to counterintelligence activities.
