Qualifications

What are we looking for? High school diploma or GED required. Possess and maintain a basic level personal training certification from one of the following nationally accredited certifying organizations: National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA), American Council on Exercise (ACE), National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM), or American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM). One year of experience within the health/fitness industry is preferred.

Complete and pass HITT in-house training within three months of hire. Must be able to demonstrate knowledge of and skill to administer fitness assessments, progressive individual fitness plans and proper exercise techniques. Knowledge of established exercise principles, concepts and techniques to plan and conduct fitness testing, interpret results and develop fitness plans. Possess a current First Aid, CPR, and AED certification from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross or obtain within 6 months of hire.

Major Duties

What to Expect Provides physical fitness training to authorized patrons to include: Active Duty, Retirees, Family Members and Department of Defense (DoD) Civilian employees. Organizes and conducts physical fitness assessments to include: screening and risk stratification, measurement and evaluation of an individual's aerobic capacity, body fat percentage, muscular strength, muscular endurance, flexibility, blood pressure, and interpretation of assessment results. Instructs patrons in proper use of exercise equipment while training and informs on methods to self-monitor progress either verbally or in writing use of equipment, safety and well-being.

This is a mixed position where the incumbent must be able to lift and carry objects up to 45lbs independently and objects over 45lbs with assistance. Once required training for HITT Instructor-Level 2 is successfully completed and a minimum of 6 months in the Level-1 position, employee(s) will automatically be converted to HITT Instructor-Level 2 position. Performs other related duties as assigned.
