Specialized Experience is work that primarily consists of developing emergency management policies and risk assessments and implementing emergency management plans, practices and procedures to identify, minimize or eliminate hazards and threats. The specialized experience is REQUIRED and must be explicitly documented/described in your resume, or you will be disqualified from further consideration.

Major Duties

Plans and implements a continuing and comprehensive evaluation of OEO and COOP structures, procedures, and activities which defines priorities and ensures the agency’s ability to respond to emergencies.

Performs duties as the agency Continuity Manager. Supports and assists the agency Continuity Coordinator, a senior agency executive, in the planning and execution of the agency's continuity of government program.

Provides expert technical advice and guidance on issues, concerns, and initiatives to SSA organizations and management. Develops programs for providing necessary guidance as well as required training and exercises to agency personnel.

Plans and implements a continuing and comprehensive evaluation of emergency management and activities which defines priorities and ensures efficient and effective planning and operations.

Knowledge of advanced management and organizational principles and practices, planning, programming, acquisition and budgeting regulations and guidelines. Skill in communicating both orally and in writing. Knowledge of critical thinking and problem solving to resolve issues and meet objectives. Knowledge of analytical and evaluative methods.

Additional selections may be made within 6 months of the date the best qualified list is issued. LOCALITY PAY: Salary will be set in accordance with locality pay provisions. Candidates currently receiving a higher locality pay than the office applied for are advised that should they be selected, they will lose entitlement to the higher locality pay.

OTHER NOTES: This position is eligible for telework. Relocation expenses will not be paid. This is a critical sensitive position. The selected employee will be required to complete a Standard Form 86, Questionnaire for Sensitive Positions, in order to have the appropriate investigation conducted, unless the employee has been previously certified eligible to occupy a position at this level.
