THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION. This National Guard position is for a Electronics Equipment Repair Inspector (Title 32) (Permanent), Position Description Number D1207000 and is part of the CSMS West, National Guard.
Qualifications
NOTE: Qualifications are based on breadth/level of experience. WHO CAN APPLY: GROUP I - All qualified Male/Female Enlisted Member (E6/SSG - E8/MSG) currently employed (permanent) in the Virginia Army National Guard Military Technician Program. GROUP II - All qualified Virginia Army National Guard Male/Female Enlisted Member (E6/SSG - E8/MSG), regardless of employment status (Traditional, Military Technician or AGR). To be considered as a Group II applicant, proof of appointment/enlistment in the Virginia National Guard must be attached if the appointment/enlistment occurred within 60 days prior to, or during, the advertisement period. GROUP III - Individuals eligible for membership in the Virginia Army National Guard. Military Grades: Enlisted Members (E6/SSG - E8/MSG) GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Applicant must have experience or training which demonstrates knowledge to inspect the repair of electronics equipment to ensure that physical and operating characteristics are within acceptable standards and specifications. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicant must have at least 18 months of specialized experience, equivalent to at least the WG-11 level, or equivalent pay band in other pay systems in the Federal government? This experience may also have been obtained in the private sector, but must demonstrate that it is comparable to the WG grade indicated. This experience must include activities such as: Experience using a wide variety of inspection techniques to inspect standard electronic systems such as: radar, radio communications receivers, and transmitters (single band, UHF and VHF), mobile subscriber equipment (MSE), missile guidance systems, laser range finders, and electronic fire control systems. Experience conducting inspections, diagnosing nature and extent of equipment malfunction, and as required, performing required maintenance to restore to a serviceable condition various types of tactical computers, radio sets, etc. Experience inspecting equipment to determine repairs needed. Experience inspecting a full range of equipment at remote worksites in support of field organizations, field units during field exercise training periods, or before major pieces of equipment are sent for repair to a supporting maintenance facility.
Major Duties
As an Electronics Equipment Repair Inspector (Title 32), WG-2604-12, you will perform the below duties: Uses a wide variety of inspection techniques to inspect standard electronic systems such as radar, radio communications receivers, and transmitters (single band, UHF and VHF), mobile subscriber equipment (MSE), missile guidance systems, laser range finders, and electronic fire control systems. In addition, may inspect heavy mobile artillery, small arms, powered support, optical, and other equipment or components of equal or lesser complexity. Conducts inspections, diagnoses nature and extent of equipment malfunction, and as required, performs required maintenance to restore to a serviceable condition various types of tactical computers, radio sets, etc. Uses various types of test equipment such as systems tests sets, frequency meters, standing wave indicators, oscillators, AN/GRM-122s, and other electronic testing devices to inspect equipment and components. Inspects equipment when received to determine repairs needed and parts required. Inspects equipment to determine repairs needed. Utilizes established Maintenance Expenditure Limits (MEL) to evaluate economic feasibility of repair(s). Considers a variety of factors such as cost and availability of parts, man-hours, and impact of time constraints on the mission to assess whether repair is economical. Recommends to a higher echelon to condemn equipment when the repair cost exceeds the established MEL. Prepares lists of needed repairs, parts, and man-hours authorized. Performs in-process inspections to assure that equipment is being repaired in accordance with pertinent requirements. Performs final inspection, certifying that equipment is in satisfactory operating condition, or rejects the work and returns the equipment to the repair shop with specific reports prescribing additional repairs Inspects the full range of equipment as described above at remote worksites in support of field organizations, field units during field exercise training periods, or before major pieces of equipment are sent for repair to a supporting maintenance facility. Serves as inspector on Command Maintenance Evaluation Teams (COMET) and/or as a member of Maintenance Assistance and Instruction Teams (MAIT). Performs other duties as assigned.
