This National Guard position is for a ELECTRONIC INTEGRATED SYSTEMS MECHANIC SUPERVISOR, Position Description Number D2284P01 and is part of the Oregon Air National Guard 142nd Wing, National Guard.

Qualifications

Areas of Consideration: Area 1 - Current permanent and indefinite T32 technicians of the Oregon ANG. Area 2 - Current permanent and indefinite T5 employees of the Oregon ANG. Area 3 - Current service members in the Oregon ANG.

Area 4 - Individuals in the active duty US Air Force, Air Force Reserve, or Air National Guard. Area 5 - US citizens eligible to meet the military requirements for membership in the Oregon ANG. GENERAL and SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: Applicant must have a validated understanding of the basic principles and concepts of the occupational series and grade.

Experience that prepares the applicant to perform the duties of the position. An applicant must demonstrate the identified specialized experience competencies (skills, knowledge, abilities and behaviors) below to qualify for this FWS 2610 position: WS-13 - Must have at 36 months of specialized working experiences in performing, training and/or supervising assigned integrated systems repair and maintenance work operations. Must have working and training experiences in the maintenance, repair, and modification of integrated multi-complex avionics systems.

Skilled in planning tasks for subordinate workers and expanded knowledge in using the equipment, facilities and materials. Skilled in meeting deadlines, in using time management to satisfy priorities and work assignments based on general work schedules, methods, and policies set by higher level supervisors. Experiences included redirecting individual workers and resources to accomplish unanticipated work.

Skilled in articulating work requirements to higher level supervisors and experienced in planning current and future work schedules, budget requests, staffing needs, estimates, and recommending projected work. Competent in researching and addressing work related problems such as, excessive costs or low productivity; and, determining the relevant causes. Experiences included implementing corrective actions, within authority, to resolve work problems.

Must have the skill and knowledge to plan work and manage leave schedules. Capabilities included the ability to determine the types and levels of training needs, along with providing mentorship and guidance to subordinates for their professional skill and knowledge improvements. Experienced in writing FWS 2610 performance standards and provided subordinates with formal appraisals of their work performance.

Experiences involved advising and counseling workers on how to improve their performance through explanations and demonstrations of work techniques. Work efforts included initiating recommendations for promotion or reassignment of subordinates to senior supervisors. Competent in reviewing job descriptions for accuracy and clarity.

Knowledgeable in the correct methods used to investigate, analyze, and resolve grievances and complaints. Experiences involved providing recommendations for disciplinary actions. Skilled in applying interview techniques and understanding of body language patterns.

Experiences included interviewing candidates for vacancies and recommending selections to higher level supervisors. Skilled in conducting environmental safety requirements and identifying equipment handling concerns that resulted in observed safety and housekeeping practices. Experiences included compliance with wearing the appropriate safety equipment and following pertinent safety precautions.

Major Duties

As a ELECTRONIC INTEGRATED SYSTEMS MECHANIC SUPERVISOR, WS-2610-13, this position works within an Air National Guard Aviation Wing, Maintenance Group, Aircraft Maintenance Squadron or Maintenance Squadron, Avionics Element, Avionics Shop or Communications/Navigation/ECM, Guidance and Control, ECM Pod/Test Station shop that supports aircraft. This is an Air National Guard dual status technician position that requires military membership, compatible military skill assignment and classification. The primary purpose of this position is to supervise employees who install, modify, overhaul, maintain, troubleshoot, repair, align, calibrate, and rebuild multi-system avionics complexes consisting of multiple completely integrated electronic avionics systems where the complex accomplishes a number of major functions.

The supervisor in this career field must also possess the ability to perform on-or-off equipment maintenance on one or more complete electronic integrated systems associated with the assigned aircraft and/or maintenance on automatic flight control systems, instrument systems, inertial and radar navigation systems.

  1. Planning: Serves as section supervisor, exercising supervisory responsibility over assigned integrated systems repair and maintenance work operations. Supervises employees involved in the maintenance, repair, and modification of integrated multi-complex avionics systems.

Plans use of subordinate workers, equipment, facilities and materials. Establishes deadlines and priorities and work assignments based on general work schedules, methods, and policies set by higher level supervisors. Determines the sequence, priority, and time for the performance of operations within the limits of broad work schedules and time limits.

Coordinates work with supporting or related work functions controlled by other supervisors. Determines the number and types of workers needed to accomplish specific projects. Redirects individual workers and resources to accomplish unanticipated work.

Informs higher level supervisors of the need to revise work schedules and re-estimate labor and other resources. Participates with superiors in the initial planning of current and future work schedules, budget requests, staffing needs, estimates, and recommendations as to scheduling projected work.

  1. Work Direction: Investigates work related problems such as excessive costs or low productivity and determines causes; implements corrective actions, within authority, to resolve work problems.
  2. Administration: Supports and explains management programs to subordinates. Plans and establishes overall leave schedule. Determines training needs of subordinates and arranges for its accomplishment.

Sets performance standards and makes formal appraisals of subordinates work performance. Advises and counsels workers on how to improve their performance and explains new work techniques. Initiates recommendations for promotion or reassignment of subordinates.

Reviews job descriptions for accuracy and makes necessary changes. Investigates and resolves grievances and complaints; notifies supervisor of serious matters. Initiates proposals for formal disciplinary action as needed.

Interviews candidates for vacancies and recommends selections. Ensures safety and housekeeping practices are observed. Education

Award of a compatible seven Skill Level AFSC is mandatory. Completion of at least two military professional education (PME) course programs is required.
