About This Position

This position is located at Departmental Offices,Management CFO - Management and Budget. As a Deputy Associate Director Travel Operations, you will serve in the delegated role as the Senior Travel Official (STO) for the Department of the Treasury, Departmental Offices and provides authoritative interpretation of the Federal Travel Regulations (FTR) as it applies across the agency.

Qualifications

You must meet the following requirements within 30 days of the closing date of this announcement. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: For the GS-15, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-14 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized Experience for this position includes: - Providing and implementing guidance and communication on policies and procedures directly related to domestic and international government travel; AND - Leading a team that partners with travel agencies and service providers who support government travel services; AND - Directing a team of employees to provide customer service and support to internal leadership and staff; AND - Reviewing and advising on federal travel regulations and policies.

The experience may have been gained in either the public, private sector or volunteer service. One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-time work is considered on a prorated basis. TIME-IN-GRADE:

In addition to the above requirements, you must meet the following time-in-grade requirement, if applicable: For the GS-15, you must have been at the GS-14 level for 52 weeks. TIME AFTER COMPETITIVE APPOINTMENT: Candidates who are current Federal employees serving on a non-temporary competitive appointment must have served at least three months in that appointment.

Major Duties

As a Deputy Associate Director Travel Operations, you will: Interpret and explain applicable policies and regulations to senior level officials. Research itinerary options and exception travel (business class, non-contract carrier, foreign carrier). Advise on travel plans (flights, accommodations, entry requirements, etc.).

Advise and provide recommendations to high-level officials regarding travel regulations as they prepare for travel to domestic and or international localities with high political implications. Exercise discretion, judgment, and tact when dealing with senior officials and in accommodating special needs. Incumbent must have a thorough knowledge of Treasury and Federal travel regulations to apply sound judgment and to provide substantive recommendations to high-level Treasury officials.

Oversee training for Departmental travelers on regulations and policies. Oversee guidance and training on the Electronic Travel System (ETS), the automated program for recording Travel Authorizations and Vouchers. Supervise travel staff, provide daily guidance and address developmental needs.

Conditions of Employment

Additional guidance and support will be provided during onboarding. A one-year supervisory or managerial probationary period may be required. Must successfully complete a background investigation. Public Trust - Background Investigation will be required.

All new hires will be required to comply with federal ethics laws. A review of financial or other interests may be conducted to determine if they create any real or apparent conflict of interests with official Treasury duties.

Complete a Declaration for Federal Employment to determine your suitability for Federal employment, at the time requested by the agency.
