Qualifications
You may qualify at the GS GS-13 , if you fulfill the following qualifications: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service as listed below: Experience Providing data science support through statistics, multivariate statistical analysis, machine learning, artificial intelligence, operations research, computer analysis, data management, or data visualization with leading projects or programs. Experience using cybersecurity principles, secure software development / acquisition, data security, risk management processes (e.g., methods for assessing and mitigating risk) and specific operational impacts of cybersecurity lapses. AND B. Degree; Mathematics, statistics, computer science, data science or field directly related to the position. The degree must be in a major field of study (at least at the baccalaureate level) that is appropriate for the position., OR C. Combination of education and experience: Courses equivalent to a major field of study (30 semester hours) as shown in paragraph A above, plus additional education or appropriate experience and Qualifications: Your resume must clearly show that you have one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
Major Duties
This position is being filled under the memorandum from the Under Secretary of Defense for Personnel and Readiness (USD(P&R)) "Expansion of Direct Hire Authority for Certain Personnel of the Department of Defense," dated October 15, 2021. As a DATA SCIENTIST at the GS-1560-13 some of your typical work assignments may include: Contribute your ideas, skills, and abilities in statistics, multivariate statistical analysis, machine learning, artificial intelligence, data science, operations research, computer analysis, data management, and/or data visualization in a collaborative, high-impact environment. Perform data acquisition, processing, and cleaning of large data sets Leverage machine learning and other analytical techniques to interpret large amounts of data to gain insight and identify patterns Lead projects, teams, or programs supporting the analytical needs across the enterprise supporting true decision advantage for our USTRANSCOM Mission Collaborate across teams internally and externally Deliver written status updates, formal technical reports, and briefings to leaders
Education
