About This Position

This position is located in the Dietary Services Department at the Great Plains Area Youth Regional Treatment Center (GPAYRTC) located in Wakpala, SD. The GPAYRTC is an 18 bed inpatient facility that provides 3 meals and 2 snacks a day to patients. Qualifications

Major Duties

Prepares foods according to diet orders, menus and standardized recipes for residential Youth Regional Treatment Center clients, YRTC personnel and guest meals. Prepares food for cooking such as washing, peeling, chopping and grinding for cooking. Roasts, bakes, fries, boils and stews meats, fish and poultry.

Monitors the preparation and evaluates the condition of the food being prepared at frequent intervals to ensure optimum flavor, quality and appearance. Observes high personal hygiene standards and all required safe food handling practices. Performs assigned cleaning duties as scheduled.

Maintains food storages areas for cleanliness and proper storage and food labeling.

Federal Employees earn annual leave at a rate (4, 6 or 8 hours per pay period) which is based on the number of years they have served as a Federal employee. IHS may offer newly-appointed Federal employees credit for their directly related previous non-federal experience or active duty uniformed military service. This credited service can be used in determining the rate at which they earn annual leave.

This position is covered by a Bargaining Unit. Recruitment or relocation incentives may be authorized. At least a 6 month service agreement will be required.
