About This Position

This position, Budget Technician, is located in Seasonal Staffing Office-Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore, in the Administrative Division. This is a temporary position with an initial appointment limited to one year or less, and does not confer permanent status. Qualifications

All qualifications must be met by the closing date of this announcement-07/13/2026-unless otherwise stated in this vacancy announcement. All candidates must also meet Time-in-Grade requirements. To qualify for this position at the GS-0561-05 grade level, you must possess the following minimum qualifications by close of the announcement: EXPERIENCE: At least one full year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-0561-04 grade level in the Federal service (obtained in either the public or private sectors).

Examples of specialized experience include, but is not limited to, the following examples: budget and accounting procedures; maintaining financial records for a unit or division; managing financial databases; preparing reports utilizing databases; analysis of financial reports; reviewing vouchers/purchase requests/etc. to verify budgetary account codes and cost; compare expenditures and request for funds with account balances to assure fund availability; audit expenditure transaction and management of funds.

You must include hours per week worked. Volunteer Experience: Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.

Major Duties

Some of the major duties you will perform include but are not limited to the following: Consolidate and review budget requests to ensure they comply with policies, procedures, and fund source. Provide financial planning advice to, and prepare a variety of reports for, managers to help in the development and execution of budgets. Serve as the government charge card coordinator to include overseeing Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable.

Perform a full range of budget support duties that involve a wide variety of frequently complicated transactions. Maintaining and updating annual operating programs in automated systems.
