About This Position

Qualifications

Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year equivalent to at least GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: At least one (1) full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level (GS-09) in the Federal service. Specialized experience is defined as work that demonstrates: - Knowledge of athletic training/exercise physiology principles to assess, analyze, and design physical fitness or injury prevention programs. - Clinical knowledge to evaluate and manage musculoskeletal injuries - Experience developing human performance programs, conducting physical assessments, or implementing rehabilitation protocols.

Incumbent to possess and maintain certification as an athletic trainer from the National Athletic Trainer's Association's Board of Certification. Major Duties

You will utilize skills in the practice and theory of athletic training to enhance health, wellness, performance, and primary, secondary, and tertiary prevention efforts.

You will provide prevention, assessment, treatment and reconditioning of injuries sustained by active-duty service members related to military and sports-related injuries.

You will provide standardized injury prevention instruction and education in collaboration with embedded athletic trainers and Command staff and provide training and education in the evaluation and emergency treatment and care of MSKI.

You will provide injury prevention and recovery education through consultations or during public speaking engagements and provide clinical treatment for adult family members when referred by a physician.

You will provide emergency first aid and preliminary treatment and services of injuries for installation community sports and physical fitness events and aid in preliminary diagnosis.

You will maintain liaison with various organizations and other service providers for the development of military human performance capabilities.

You will maintain working relationships with an interdisciplinary team who provides services related to physical, mental, spiritual, social fitness, sleep, and nutrition.

You will recognize the severity of injury, provide treatment and perform initial examination.

Education

Graduate Education: Education at the graduate level in an accredited college or university in the amounts shown below meets the requirements for the position. Such education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work. Ph.D.
