About This Position

This position is located at Aliamanu Military Reservation Pool. Honolulu, Hawaii This is a regular full-time seasonal position with employment effective from May to September. Incentives and Bonuses Incentives will not be paid. Qualifications

Resumes should clearly demonstrate the applicant's relevant experience, skills, knowledge and abilities as they pertain to this position. A qualified candidate must possess the following: MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: 1. Demonstrated experience in planning and executing aquatic programs. This experience may have been gained managing indoor or outdoor aquatic programs and facilities.

  1. Required experience must have been equivalent to the next lower grade level. Current certification in Life guarding or Life guarding instructor, First Aid and CPR for the Professional Rescuer or equivalent.
  2. The following certificates must be obtained within 12 months of appointment: Water Safety Instructor; Aquatic Facilities Operator (AFO) or Pool Operator certification
  3. For facilities that use Automated External Defibrillator "AED's" and Oxygen Administration "O2 bottles" the following certificate must be obtained within two weeks of reporting for duty: AED 02 Administration Resume MUST clearly reflect the knowledge and experience listed until the minimum qualifications/duties criteria shown above.

In addition to the above qualifications, candidates who possess the following qualifications will be considered "Highly Preferred" or "Best Qualified." HIGHLY QUALIFIED CRITERIA: All required certifications must be uploaded at the time of application to be considered a highly preferred candidate Currently hold certification for Water Safety Instructor. Currently hold Aquatics Facilities Operator (AFO) certification or Pool Operator certification. IMPORTANT:Applicants who meet both minimum qualifications and highly qualifying/best qualified criteria will be referred to the selecting official for consideration first.

Major Duties

Assist the aquatics manager in the supervision of aquatic programs and act as head lifeguard. Assist manager in plans and coordination of details for reoccurring and nonrecurring aquatic, fitness, instructional, and joint community programs.

Assist manager in planning and establishing aquatic certification curriculums, including lifeguarding, lifeguard instructor, water safety instructor, water fitness instructor, and other safety, fitness, and educational programming.

Review budget execution reports with the aquatic manager to ensure desired execution rate is met. Assists aquatic manager with coordination with the MWR marketing department to publicize aquatic events.

Assist with the development and update of the Standard Operating Procedures for the aquatic facilities, programs and enforces policies. Performs preventive maintenance on equipment and reports any deficiencies as required.

Interviews and selects staff and provides them with required orientation, training, and management to meet all activity needs. Assists and advises guests of available programs and responds to concerns. Represents the program department.
