About This Position

About the position: This position will be assigned to the Indoor/Outdoor Pool within Outdoor Recreation at Holloman AFB, NM. Incumbent must be able to work other than normal duty hours which may include evenings, weekends, and/or holidays. This is a Regular Full Time (RFT) position with benefits (medical, dental, life insurance, retirement, 401(k), and annual/sick leave).

Qualifying Experience: Must be proficient in personnel management, accounting practices and budgeting. Must hold current WSI and Lifeguard certificates from the American Red Cross or obtain within 12 months of hire date. Must hold current Lifeguard Certification from the American Red Cross. Must be proficient and current in latest approved methods of lifesaving and resuscitation techniques to include cardiopulmonary resuscitation for adults, children, and infants. Must be proficient in various swimming techniques. Cash handling experience is required.

Major Duties

The incumbent of this position will be responsible for managing and supervising the daily operation of the Force Support Squadron Pools. The primary duties of this position include but are not limited to: Under the supervision of the Outdoor Recreation (ODR) Supervisory Recreation Specialist, assists in planning, administering, and arranging a variety of swimming programs to fit differing abilities and needs of the military, dependents, and civilian personnel. Plans, organizes, and implements a well-rounded aquatics fitness programs. Organizes, promotes, teaches, schedules, and conducts swim meets, matches, special events, and daily activities. Administers special swim days, holiday events, and events of general interest to all base personnel. Works with outside (off base or other bases) swimming organizations/pools to offer a wider range of programs. Recommends hours of operations, fees, and charges. Supervises the day-to-day operation of the swimming pools and assigned staff. Closely observes and strictly enforces all safety rules and regulations. Enforces all accepted safe and healthy swimming pool practices. Performs routine chemical testing to ensure a healthy pool environment in accordance with AFMAN 48-114 and AFI 34-110. Maintains AF Forms 708, Swimming Pool Operational Log. Responsible for the daily preparation of NAF administrative documents to include daily cashier reports. Ensure proper use of change funds and may prepare purchase orders and other documents involving the transfer of funds. Conducts required inventories. Conducts customer satisfaction surveys at least semi-annually. Performs follow-ups to ensure desired results have been achieved. Acts on and resolves all customer complaints to full conclusion. Follows up as necessary to ensure customers issues have been handled properly. Responsible for the upkeep and housekeeping of the pool. Maintains facility appearance, indoors and outdoors, to ensure that facilities and grounds are in proper repair. Serves as point of contact with Civil Engineering on all work orders/job requests. Interviews and selects personnel for employment. Schedules work assignments and ensure duties are accomplished in a timely manner. Resolves minor complaints of employees and takes necessary disciplinary actions. Rates subordinates on work performance, advising them of progress and suggests areas for growth and improvement. Approves/disapproves employees' time and attendance. May be required to transport materials and equipment between pool facilities using government vehicles. May perform swim lessons, lifeguard and WSI training. Performs other related duties as assigned. Individual must fully meet qualification/eligibility/background requirements for this position.
