This is a National Guard Title 32 Excepted position for a AIRCRAFT SURVIVAL FLIGHT EQUIPMENT REPAIRER, Position Description Number PDD1992000, and is part of the SC AASF, South Carolina Army National Guard.
Qualifications
THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION OPEN TO THE FOLLOWING AREA OF CONSIDERATION (AOC): Area of Consideration: This position is open to Areas 1 & 2. Area 1: Current employees of the South Carolina Army National Guard (Tenure 1 and 2) Area 2: Current members of the South Carolina Army National Guard Area 3: Any individual eligible for membership in the South Carolina Army National Guard MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: Experience or training which demonstrates the applicant's knowledge of materials and equipment used in the line of work (helmets, torso harness assemblies, parachutes, survival equipment). Ability to understand written instructions and to use reference materials and manuals.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: Experience or training which has demonstrated knowledge of aviation life support equipment. Experience reading and interpreting military manuals. Experience in supply procedures and property accountability.
Experience collecting information and presenting it to various sized groups. Experience in planning a functional shop maintenance program is essential. CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT & NOTES: Eligible for NGB Non-Aviator Flying Status when designated to participate in Army Maintenance Test Flights.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain the appropriate security clearance of the position.

Major Duties
This position is located in the Aviation Life Support function, ARNG Aviation Support Facility. Provides control, inspection and certification, testing, evaluation and maintenance or overhaul of Aviation Life Support Equipment (ALSE). Provides initial and continuation instruction in the following ALSE subject categories: environmental life support and protective subsystems, over water survival equipment, escape and descent life support subsystems, survival recovery life support subsystem, global survival, aircrew chemical decontamination procedures and aircrew chemical defense task qualification training.
Documents and maintains records of ALSE crewmember training. Work involved in the inspection, maintenance, and adjustment of aircrew life support equipment. Workers are required to maintain appropriate accountability documentation of life support equipment.
Work also involves continuation training to aircrews in the use of aircrew life support equipment.
