About This Position

THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION. This position is for a Aircraft Flight Survival Equipment Repairer, Position Description Number D1728000, located in the 165th Operations Support Squadron, Garden City, GA. This is a full-time, Excepted Permanent, dual status position which requires Georgia Army National Guard Membership. Area of Consideration: Open to current members of the Georgia Air National Guard.

Qualifications

General Experience: Must possess experience or training which demonstrates the applicants knowledge of materials and equipment used in the line of work (helmets, torso harness assemblies, parachutes, survival equipment); ability to understand written instructions and to use reference materials and manuals. Specialized Experience: Experience or training which has demonstrated knowledge of aviation life support equipment; experience reading and interpreting military manuals; experience in supply procedures and property accountability; experience collecting information and presenting it to various sized groups; experience in planning a functional shop maintenance program is essential. Physical Effort: Physical effort is the same as that required for other worker(s) in the shop. Working Conditions: Working conditions are the same as for the other worker(s) in the shop.

Major Duties

As an Aircraft Flight Survival Equipment Repairer, WG-4818-11, you will: Plan and lay out work to be accomplished in the shop which is then completed by yourself and lower graded worker(s). Utilize knowledge and skills of the journey level as well as those required to plan, accomplish, and maintain a functional shop maintenance program. Independently determine appropriate maintenance procedures such as how and when the work should be accomplished. Estimate manpower, equipment, and material requirements. Devise and maintain all program plans and records, performs surveillance and troubleshooting, and determine maintenance/repair procedures to be utilized. Plan, organize, and direct shop maintenance programs/procedures under general supervision. Determine approaches, methods, and courses of action required to accomplish the mission of the shop in an effective and efficient manner. Provide recommendations and input to the supervisor concerning personnel actions such as performance appraisals, awards, position description changes, disciplinary actions, leave, etc. Perform the full range of journey level work of the shop. Implement safety regulatory requirements. Ensure that other workers in the shop wear appropriate safety equipment and follow pertinent safety precautions. Perform other duties as assigned.
